RIP Larry. I remember an old tv show called PM Magazine where Larry had a funny skit, "The Adventures of Biff and Skippy". Here's a ditty: Oldie Out We can thank Skippy (Rick Rockwell) for all the reality TV shows about getting married on TV. It all started with him on "Who wants to marry a millionaire" which then spawned all the others, getting married to a stranger, marry your neighbor, married in 5 days, Bachelorette show, marry your high school PE teacher (Pedophile or gay, not judging) you name it this is the show that started them all- THANKS for really bad TV!) I Know WAY off track but just jacked up about having the season starting soon! Go Aztecs! --Biff and Skippy really sucked, as they say in show biz "they really jumped the shark" but they always had the local hotties on-hand for background eye candy

It's interesting, in that there is already a security camera on top of the stadium event sign. If SDSU was going to hook up a construction cam, couldn't they just use the image from that camera? Or is that too easy?

They were indeed pretty dumb, but as long as you kept in mind they were just a local production slapped together for other locals to watch, they weren't half bad. And Rick Rockwell was pretty funny.

Have they got the robot yet that's going to flush the toilet to bring down the structure as someone suggested earlier? Will that be televised?

No robot yet, they're still trying to find one to volunteer. They may have to recruit one from the SDPD bomb disposal unit. I asked my robot vacuum cleaner and he said no way, he doesn't get paid enough to touch a toilet in that place.

It would be cool to watch when the stadium is brought down. I wonder if they use a lot of explosives or do they bring the big wrecking balls and do their thing. Not sure if anyone has heard anything.

They'll likely use explosives, then use a wrecking ball. I think the upper part is too high for a wrecking ball. It should draw a crowd. People like to watch structures come tumbling down.

WOW, just WOW! Thanks for posting this clip. That really was great and at the same time hard to watch, a whole bunch of memories came flooding back for me, going back to 70-71 up until now. The thing I will say is it was a shame that they really never planned for the long term in any of the upgrades they did, they were just strictly cosmetic with no planning for the long term. The infrastructure of the internal workings was never really looked at (Clubhouses, press boxes, concession stands, bathrooms,....) were never improved. I had the pleasure on a few times over the years to see the inter workings of the stadium and boy was it a real eye opener. I can say even as a young kid in the early 70's I always felt like I was in concrete box (almost like prison/jail). I never liked the "Brutalist style" they used even though I now dig most minimalist, mid-century modern and just about all concrete building styles, Just not San Diego stadium. I will say that seeing the old stadium empty with all those (Spano's) blue seats just put a bad taste in my mouth. I know they are the Chargers color but it just reminds me more of Spanos then the San Diego Chargers. I know I need to move on but it's tough to teach an old dog new tricks. The stadium stayed around a few years longer then it should have with its poor site lines (distance mainly) and deferred maintenance but boy was it fun while it lasted and it will be missed, inside and out!

Oldie Out For the largest suites, $150K buy-in (payable over 3 years) and somewhere between $40 - 50 K per year depending on how many years you want the suite (5, 7 or 10 years). You get right of first refusal for ANY events at stadium (still have to buy tickets though for event) and you can use suite when no events are there. You get access to exclusive club areas, a couple of parking passes and tailgate pass.
