Dont want to pull defeat out of the jaws of victory but it looksmore real all the time. Great for the entire San Diego Region.

I drive past the stadium every day on my way to and from work. It is going to be surreal to see construction going on there, and especially when the demo of "The Murph" happens. I moved to San Diego as a 10 year old in 1969 and my first time stepping foot in that stadium was the Padres inaugural year of 1969. I spent 10 years as a Chargers season ticket holder from 1988-1998 (ah, the Bobby Ross years!). When that stadium is gone it is going to be bittersweet. Out with the old, in with the new! Go Aztecs!

I don’t think they should demo it. I think they should have rebuilt and redesigned it. Keep the out and improve it. Plus less concrete and environmental waste. History is worth preserving

"they should have rebuilt and redesigned it".
I thought the same thing. However, after a study, the cost to remodel exceeded the cost to tear down and build.

"they should have rebuilt and redesigned it". I thought the same thing. However, after a study, the cost to remodel exceeded the cost to tear down and build. another thing is the location of current stadium would not allow for total optimization of entire site. I have to say, been going to the stadium since the early 70's and even as a kid I never really felt the place had any character or personality. It also felt like it was just a place to see a game on that day, that is it had no roots to the community or teams due to the fact it was shared by so many things. I want to see the Aztec stadium with Aztec/SDSU stuff everywhere. I want to see statues, posters, hall of fame, museums, school facts, current events of SDSU and most importantly a strong tie to the entire community high schools, boys and girls clubs, community colleges, senior citizen center the list goes on ..... This place could really put SDSU front and center into San Diego if done right, it's soo much more then just the stadium! Go Aztecs!

History is worth preserving A remodel to a similar-sized stadium as SDCCU Stadium was done to Hard Rock Stadium in Miami. It was completed 5 years ago, at a cost of at least $350 million. It is safe to assume that doing a similar thing to SDCCU Stadium would cost more than $350 million, and as someone else mentioned, moving the stadium to another location on the site will enable SDSU to maximize use of the entire site. So...build a new stadium and demo the old.

Since it is no longer of any real value to SDSU and their master plan it is best to have it removed to make room for a better use of all the property that will be needed to expand the university. There were some great memories to be sure, but you will get over it. Keep in mind that there is to be more great memories upcoming with the new facilities!

The "remodel the Q" battlecry is just pure nut jobbery with no basis in reality. why? There is nothing worth saving in the current stadium. It has bad site lines, seats to far from the field, field is to low (water table), poorly located on site for other uses, outdated concession stands, lacking proper sanitation, poor electrical/communication infrastructure, locker rooms and prep areas not worth updating the list goes on and on. The current stadium just needs more work then it's worth, time to replace not remodel. most would have to do with seismic upgrade and retrofitting current stadium to meet current standards, for the "New" stadium, it would Not be a "Simple Remodel". They would also have trouble with site prep for the entire job due to current location of stadium, that is job sequencing and scheduling. The way it looks now is they would be able to build the new stadium in the NW corner while starting the park along the river, while still using the current stadium. Then once new stadium is done they could tare down the old one and do the complete infrastructure prep in one shot to OPTIMIZE the entire site.

I thought it was going in the North-EAST corner, near the San Diego Mission Rd entrance?

Thanks for that. I guess I was thinking of the original proposal. Makes more sense on the west side anyway - further away from the giant fuel tanks.

I wonder if fisherfan1 goes around town in a horse and buggy??!!? LOL what would it matter if he did? It would be his choice of transportation. Maybe he is the type of person who is now cool living "Off-Grid" and worried about his "Carbon Foot Print". Why are you clowning on his simple comment of why it's wrong about remodeling the site. If you took the time to see all the past comments from this poster you would know that he is one informed and knowledgeable SDSU Aztec Mesa follower. I am not sticking up for him but I found your comment kind of weak and out of place (Just basically weak) you can do better, I hope.
