This is only acceptable if Horton is shown the door. This fiasco is all on him. I don't see how the question about Horton's possible return can even be asked since Wicker, Hoke's new immediate supervisor, reportedly told Rocky he wanted Horton to be replaced. |

I'm worried about what becomes of our defense within a season or two of Rocky leaving. I don't think that many people truly appreciate just what a badass Rocky is. Doing what he manages to do with overlooked recruits while the top talent is poached off by P5 schools, and still ranking near the top on defense nationally. Bottom line: I'm sad to see him go. This times a million. I pray to the football gods we don't go back to the Chuck Long days. With due respect, Hoke has already proven that he isn't Chuck Long. |

Fired, replaced, out, resigned, whatever you want to call it. A vocal group on here have wanted Long to be out for quite some time. Now you have it. We'll see what happens. No they did not. The group was very small. |

Hoke is a good coach, he'll be fine. So long as SDSU is in the MWC there isn't a coach on the planet who can make the team elite. No group of 5 team is going to be allowed into a four team playoff. Everybody else is just playing for meaningless bowl games of various prestige.

I put this entirely on rocky.
He felt that there was no need to change ox’s and anybody with a tiny bit of knowledge of football could tell the offense was not working. This issue goes back longer than 2 years.
Either the scheme isn’t working or the players failed to execute or both. The buck starts at the top. Horton wasn’t getting the job done and ultimately it’s rockys responsibility to fix it. He choose not to fix it.
To be a head football coach, you have to be willing to make changes. Rocky didn’t want to.
So I don’t blame wicker for getting rid of rocky. This is rocky’s decision.
I have complete faith in hoke to have similar success. We play 4 decent teams in any given year: 2 p5 schools and 2 mwc schools end up being decent. Getting 10 wins shouldn’t be a problem. The bowl game is a joke anyway.

Emphasis on the minority. There hasn't been a passing game in 8 years, and the running game is good when we have ridiculously good backs. I saw a lot of posts saying that if Horton couldn't get the offense going, that is a problem that should be addressed. Rocky is loyal, to a detriment in this specific instance. But we were staring down the barrel of more of the same on offense and if he would rather step down than address it, I begrudgingly respect his decision. It is time to support the next man up. |
