What's confrontational about asking him a question. Wow touchy .... If he can't handle the heat .... AD's are supposed to handle tough questions. I'm a taxpayer, alum, and a donor to the university ... I should have a right to know why my money is being spent so foolishly. The women's team doesn't have to win everything but they don't have to be an embarrassment either. ps: there is an "n" missing. Just pointing out you mentioned something like "see if he has balls." That was what I meant about "confrontational" with an "n." Your choice obviously. Talk about touchy😮 Ok, I thought this was a thread about Aztec women's basketball ... and a discussion about the future employment of a not so good coaching job. Not a touchy feely session where posters attack one another for expressing an idea, "balls". thus hijacking the original intent of the thread. So, if you wish to carry this further you will have to do it with yourself. Furthermore your really think it's going to be easy to let Terry go. This is a female coach of color and a home grown ..local product. Wicker will need to buck up in order to do his job because the public... "diversity" ...perception and title IX compliance rules may not favor such a termination, even if Wicker causes is there. Talk about touchy. Now if the contract is for only 5, problem solved. Bye!

Look, all I was saying was that I know if someone approached me in a negative manner I would be less likely to listen. Didn't mean for you to get upset. Wasn't hijacking the thread at all. And, yes, I think it's time to hire a new coach😮 I'm done with this too.

I never heard about her signing an extension and who would offer one when each year it gets worse. She’s a good person but you don’t pay a coach over $200K to give you 6 wins.
Her contract is over on April 30th so I’d expect a coaching search soon.

Regardless of her healthy paycheck, 5 straight years w/ a crappy record is enough for me to move on and find someone else. Can Wicker handle that hire better than he handled Beth Burns' firing? Wow, I'm so glad that others feel the way I do about the absolute destruction of women's basketball program. I use to have season tickets for both men and women. It was fun once you got use to the differences between the genders style of play. One above the rim lone below. Then Jim Sterk fired Burns. (it was Sterk not Wicker) At first I thought the firing was ....well suspect but I'm not part of the in crowd. Later it became clear that Sterk was the keeper of full blown chauvinism (he's at it again with South Carolina's Dawn Staley ..look it up). But I digress... I stayed for the women's 9-9 season, and after watching and noting that Terry had no clue how to run a team, I did not renew. That's when I kept asking Sterk why he was still putting up with such mediocre coaching. He blew me off. I did not realize at the time what a worm he was and this attitude would cost the university a lot of money. Well, that being said I was willing to hold out hope. But this year's results have done me in. I'm going to Vegas for the tourney and am sure to run into Wicker face to face. Let's see if he has balls. X X - I guess you missed this part of Wicker being involved with the firing of Burns "Wicker, then an associate athletic director at San Diego State, led the internal investigation considered in the firing of women’s basketball coach Beth Burns. We are 37 days away from Coach Terry's contract running out.
Are we signing her to an extension? Are we currently interviewing candidates without an opening?

I'd be surprised if she's let go, unless Hutson takes a HC job elsewhere.

Every year seemed to be worse or no better than the previous year. It's a twofold situation. Wicker making the move to remove her, and observing who he hires as a valid candidate. It'll set the example for how he handles our other sports when has to make a move.

Experiment over , failed.
Why do we pay that kind of $$ for a coach with no experience in a sport nobody cares about?

Who would you guys suggest we replace her with? Local coach or someone with local ties ? We need to put fence around our city and stop letting SD girls get away. I.E. Destiny Littleton, Khayla Rooks, Sierra Campisano, Kelsey Plum etc..

who are recruits for this fall coming in ?
Same story for Women as is with Men - they look for P5 schools .

Her record should be the determining factor as to whether she stays or goes. Not her association with someone on staff with the school. We do need a new women's basketball coach, and someone who can bring this program back up to winning.
We should go after a good assistant from a P5 program, or someone who has already shown they can do the job.

As I recall Terry was an assistant at Stanford and yes this was her first HC job. The Burns debacle clouded the scrutiny of her resume, at the time. Everyone was tied up with the Burns issue and she slipped into the job. I was OK with it until I went to the first game, THERE WAS. NO DEFENCE! I sat an watched an opposing point guard come down the floor and hit 6 straight 3's from the top of the arc. No one came out to stop her. I quit going after the third game of the same thing.
