I'm bummed to see Sterk go. He was the best we ever had. Next guy will have huge challenge ahead of him. What does this do to our Big 12 chances? Probably last nail. Are you kidding?....the last nail was in a long time ago.

Maybee Sterk can get us in the SEC now, lol! All kidding aside; we were lucky to have him @ SDSU the past several years; I wish him the best of luck. We have the foundation for succss already here at SDSU moving forward; we should be fine. Go SDSU WEST! Go AZTECS!

Damn, that sucks. I knew it was a pipe dream to think we could keep him longer. Even Zeigler wrote a piece on it earlier in the year. Well, good luck and thanks for putting SDSU back on the sports map!!!

Until SDSU gets into a P5 conference this is our lot in life. Sterk did a great job at SDSU and you can't blame him for moving to a P5 school.

Indirectly, Sterk could still help us get into the Big 12. He knows us, he knows the community and could help in an eventual sell.
That being said, let's get a damn Aztec alum in here this time.

Mizzou fan here. I wanted to say first off, that if the news is true, I wish you all success in finding a replacement for Jim Sterk. Secondly, I really hope that you end up in the Big XII. I met some SDSU fans in Columbia in 2010 (sorry to bring that up) and they were really cool and I have generally rooted for San Diego State since then.
I have read the bio for Jim Sterk so I won't ask about that, but I was a little curious about his personality. Our last AD was pretty standoffish with fans/donors and never fit in. I am hoping that Mr. Sterk will be more personable. Kind of an odd geographic fit but other than that we are very excited.

Mizzou is in the SEC now anyway so I don't see them/Sterk being able to help us much for B12

The main issue is will the replacement AD be static or will he/she be proactive despite the resources available? Then after that, if the replacement happens to be the AD whenever Rocky Long retires, will he/she likely hire a a good coach or a Yes Man?

I've met him once before a basketball game in San Jose a couple years ago during an Alumni get together at a local restaurant. He was easy to approach and spent about 5 minutes just talking to me and answering my questions about the Big 12 lol. He's a good guy. You're extremely lucky to have him. I wish him and your school the best.
