No. I am not going to ask my client questions to satisfy your curiosity. If you want to learn about the plans, do some research. Well you do show some sense in not questioning your imaginary client. No one wants to risk a relationship with an imaginary friend over an internet snot throwing contest. The peanut gallery chips in.

Well, I'm sure a bright day trader, who can do math, can let you know what his deductibles are. Let us know. No. I am not going to ask my client questions to satisfy your curiosity. If you want to learn about the plans, do some research. Of course you won't. You brought it up, now you are running away.

Driving home I heard on the radio that 42 out of 50 states had their premiums go up. Nice going Feds.

Driving home I heard on the radio that 42 out of 50 states had their premiums go up. Nice going Feds. States have premiums, huh? I wonder what California's premium is... $650 a month? $1250 a month? While nowhere near as bad as Texas, we've gotta have some kind of preexisting condition. I miss the radio. Rush and Imus are such great role models.

Lets get back to rates. My golfing partner, a retired LAPD Officer and his wife, an Anesthesiologist just received their health insurance renewal notice. The price here in California doubled. They were getting coverage through his wife's plan at work. He is now researching how much it would cost to switch back to coverage through his Police retirement plan coverage. I did not ask the dollar amount, but it had to be big if it became a topic of conversation when we usually talk about sports and investing. Thanks Obama, for disrupting the economy in a totally damaging manner. Those of us that have insurance pay more. My company has dropped our insurance and went to a different provider. Rates keep going up. Like I posted earlier as a 28 year old my rate if I went on the exchange $275 a month for the cheapest of 4 plans. Only 3 Dr. Visits and $100 co pay. Affordable care act? No I usually just read the posts here, but thought I'd add my voice to this one. Just lost our family coverage because of the new Obamacare requirements coming in. Background ... husband and wife and a college age kid. I have a small business and have to provide my own insurance. We're all healthy. No pre-existing conditions. We don't take any medications. No diseases, no specialists and no treatments. No claims ever on this policy since 2009 ... we've never hit the deductible ($2500) so all our costs have been out of pocket. 2009 - $606/mo 2010 - $711/mo 2011 - $711/mo 2012 - $987/mo (Anthem blamed the increase on ACA compliance rules) 2013 - policy terminated (non-ACA compliant). New plan offered $1723/mo ($5000 deductible). We are now, as of last week, uninsured ... we quite simply can't afford 30% of our take home income going towards healthcare insurance. Not and make ends meet. Unfortunately, it's a choice we have to make to be able to continue to live in our modest home and send our son to State, and pay all our bills. Many in my small business network are also in the same situation. (If you haven't seen the news reports, hundreds of thousands of people in California with privately purchased insurance have been dropped from their plans in the past few weeks). The last two weeks have been ugly for all of us small businesses. We are not union, big business or Congressmen, so we do not get any relief, waivers, or breaks. In addition, our tax/fee/compliance burden to the Feds and California has gone up by almost 30% in the past couple of years on the same revenue. Its a challenge just to stay in business. But yippee ... now we have to pay more tax because we can't afford insurance - my accountant says the penalty will rise to about 15% of the cost of buying insurance, which is about what we can afford. So I've got no insurance, but I'm sure glad I can pay for someone else to have their coverage. Obama's promises: "If you're one of the more than 250 million Americans who already have health insurance, you will keep your insurance." LIE "If you like your health care plan, you'll be able to keep your health care plan, period. No one will take it away, no matter what." LIE "If you like your doctor, you will be able to keep your doctor. Period.". LIE "If you already have health insurance, the only thing that will change for you under this plan is the amount of money you will spend on premiums ... which will be less". LIE "I am actually not interested in just capping premiums. I will lower premiums by an average of $2,500 per family, per year". LIE "Knowing you can offer your family the security of health care, that's priceless. Now, you can do it for the cost of your cable bill, probably less than your cellphone bill. Think about that, good health insurance for the price of your cellphone bill or less." (Obama - 9/20/2013!) LIE I am really, really sorry I voted for hope and change. The change totally sucks and there's no hope it'll get any better.

Either your insurance provider is trying to screw you or you are just lying through your teeth.
Your scenerio kind of points to the "Silver 70", the 2nd level, of coverage. This is similar to the traditional 80/20 plans. The prices range from $723 to about $900 and average around $850. A far cry from $1723.
The "platinum 90" plans average about $1,100. The highest plan quoted wasn't near $1723.

I don't know how to post a picture, but here are the quotes I got this morning direct from Kaiser. Remember, I am covering my wife and son as well.
All plans have a max of $12,700 out of pocket.
Silver - $1,497.92 Gold - $1,821.10 Platinum - $1,958.59
The Bronze plan that is shown above at $624/mo was quoted to me this morning at $1,117.60 direct from Kaiser. Perhaps these are per person (not family) or includes a subsidy?
My recent plan was equivalent to Gold or slightly better.
The $1,723 from Anthem was equivalent coverage to my other plan and was Gold. I was also quoted a Silver plan at $1,582 and a Platinum plan at $2,204.
I did go to the Covered California website as well to get the best rates possible under the ACA. Here is what I was quoted this morning:
Bronze 60 - $1101 - $1160 Silver 70 - $1416 - $1581 Gold 80 - $1667 - $1901 Platinum 90 - $1911 - $2204
And no, I am not lying through my teeth. But thanks for the unjustified insult. :-( You can go to coveredca.com and calculate these for yourself.

But I ran it again just to make sure and came up with the same figures. Now I had to guess at the input data but I used; Income = 100K, ages of 45, 42, and 19, zip code of 92107. So for Kaiser the premium would be; Bronze = $634, Silver = $849, Gold = $1033, and Platinum = $1111. I don't understand why you are getting such bigger amounts.

Apology accepted. No worries.
Data is 56, 54 and 21. I used $95K. Zip Code is 94583 (Contra Costa County).
Maybe I need to move back to San Diego.
