The team is looking deep with Johnson on the court.......even without Jamaal. The oracle likes what he sees from Johnson and think he is going to make a huge difference this season. I have to say what everyone else on this site is thinking...your 3rd person reference to yourself is really very pathetic. There, now I feel better

This team is deep! I truly believe they can compete with anyone in the country (as long as the game is played indoors of course).

Let's see how his hands are in the Maui tourney. On the defensive end he needs to be the big grabbing rebounds instead of tipping it around the basket. On the offensive end I hope he gets fed some darts inside instead of those dangerous soft passes, to see if he can finish. The guy sure looks to be in great shape, that's for sure.

Will be a real test if the guys get to play Arizona , who have a very good front line, best we have played since the Orange. Ole Miss has a good record also. Think we can also thank Big Red's team mates for setting him up on most of his points.

This guy runs, moves, and explodes to the hoop like Malcolm Thomas, he's like the same size and weight too. Here's hoping he plays as well or better.

Johnson seemed really lost in the first half. Dude got taken out twice by interior pick and rolls. Also, jumped through the roof on a head fake by a 6'3" guy under the basket. Landed on the guy's shoulder and then fell flat on his back. You typically see that stuff down at the Y, but not in D1. The play is bad for three reasons. 1) Don't leave your feet on defense until the microsecond before the ball is being released. 2) You're almost sure to pick up a foul. 3) You can really get hurt on those plays. And let me tell you, there's nothing worse than a broken Johnson.
As for the second half, he played much better and seemed more comfortable. He runs the floor really well and has a nice stroke at the FT line. More importantly, he's the biggest body on the team. Most of the time, State can get away with playing a bunch of wiry, tall, spring-loaded guys. But sometimes, you gotta ask, "Where's the beef?" Johnson will be a great resource against big-bodied teams that we're likely to run into come Tourney time -- teams like NC State from last year. Coulda really used a big Johnson in the lane for that game.

These games against smaller schools will help get the rust off, then watch him show off his skills we've been hearing about against the big names.

I hope Fish starts looking at some international transfers from China. Maybe we can get a guy named Wang on this team.

Hard to really tell anything from this game. The crowd and the team was ready to play given the proper motivation. They were sleep walking until the crowd (and his teammates) got into James coming into the game in the 2nd half. Everyone played better in response and feed James in the paint for some easy points. I was hoping he would attempt an outside shot. That evidently is a big part of his game.
My favortie saying of the game is, "Don't bring that weak sh*t into Skylar's house".

I just love how our bench...Shepard, Rahon, Polee, Johnson, Spencer, LBF is better than some of the teams we had prior to our current run.

So how big is Johnson?
How does he look compared to Skylar and Deshawn?

He's not as quick as our other bigs but takes up more space, it seems. He's a legit big man at around 240 lbs and has the strength to rattle the backboards with thunderous dunks and fill lanes. With time, he'll gain quickness and confidence. He shows good athleticism and hustle running the floor at full speed, long strider, pops back up off the floor.
Nice touch on the free throws. He makes them all.
