they post because they care. and also because it will help them feel better about their nonconference slate I don't understand what a Santa Barbara fan is doing posting on this board. 'cause I live in SD.

Look at what happened to the WCC when Gonzaga got nat'l attention. St. Mary's rose to the occasion and USD and Portland were able to put together some decent seasons too. The Big West will not be an easy conference to play in. Exactly. ...and ESPN made the WCC their #1 basketball conference out west by giving them a 28-game contract and an 18-game ESPN-International contract. Now the WCC gets 48 games on ESPN. Don't think the ESPN-International contract was renewed. Not sure though. The BIG WEST will likely get over 20 games from ESPN. ...and we should go after ESPN-International as well. In basketball, Hawaii has a Freshman from New Zealand and a Freshman from Australia. That's what ESPN is looking for. Plus, two Australians on the softball team. The pitcher made the Australian national team. This stuff may be "beyond" Farrell, but the market is there. Go International.

Maybe they like to occasionally take part in a fact-based, rational discussion just to see what it feels like. Nope, just trying to bring a fact based, rational discussion to this board. Not possible, huh. Yup, this place sure isn't the Algonquin Roundtable like rebelnet is

I think it's nice they provide you with internet access in the valet break room at Circus Circus. You're special and you deserve it.

Were you apologizing to him or saying your're sorry that he lives in SD? Big difference. Having been exposed to slowdraw over on the ESPN boards (it's not as bad as being exposed to the Ebola virus, but not that far away, either), it is safe to say it is the latter. Maybe his inner ruble is sorry we all live in SD because that diseased, crack whore-laden desert shithole he inhabits is, you know, nicer.

The Big West will not be an easy conference to play in. Well opposing teams will likely all have 5 D1 caliber players that will be trying to win the basketball game. So in that sense it won't be easy. That being said I will be disappointed if we ever don't win that conference.

That being said I will be disappointed if we ever don't win that conference. I too hope they win the conference regular season and tournament a vast majority of the time. I think they will. I just don't think SDSU will run the table 16 games, year in, year out.

People continue to say UCSB will be one of our main competitors I can say with confidence that won't be the case. UC Irvine, BSU, and Hawaii are in much better shape going forward than UCSB. Short term, i.e., next season, I agree with you. UCSB is very young and lost their anticipated top scorer to injury. I also think UCI has good potential but it is a program with very little history, has never even made it to the tournament. To move them above UCSB just because you like their latest flavor of a coach is a stretch. BSU & UH have potential because of nicer arenas but note that they've had these arenas for quite a while and they are what they are. Long term I disagree about UCSB, the Gauchos have done well recruiting (by Big West standards) the past two seasons should be well within the second tier to SDSU. This is premature but I project the tiers in the Big West in 2013-14 to break down like this: 1. SDSU 2. LB 3. UCSB, UH, BSU 4. UCI, UCD 5. CSUN, CSF, UCR

FWIW.
Gonzaga has been the dominant program in the WCC for the last 15 years. They have won the outright conference title 11 of those years, tied for 1st place 2 seasons, and were runner up 2 years. They ran the table 3 times out of the last 15 years, and lose about 2 conference games per season. They won the conference tournament in 10 of those 15 years.

Freudian slip? Who? What? You said Poly? Nice catch, I should have put them in Tier 4. Callero has done an admirable job so far but is still working within some limitations; lack of history and Mott to be specific. Definitely a program that will bounce upwards in some seasons but as a program that has never even played in a post season tournament they are still a lower tier for now.

You gotta admit though, that CSU Northridge practice gym looks pretty nice. Funny that you mention that... When we do build our practice gym it will probably be better than many of the home gyms of the schools in the Big West. Ouch to everyone else in the BW. I was thinking that Northridge still looks like a Gym no matter how they try to make it look nicer. It looks smaller than the high school gym that is down the road from me.
