What's there to know? Other than our last intra-squad scrimmage will be a better game than these guys. The Fred Noonan School of Navigation.

I hate over-confidence. It always bites us in the ass.
Even if we win, we play to the level of competition and that has to stop.
Go watch a few videos of the Michigan - Appalachian State upset game, that should put things into perspective.
Sorry guys, after losing to Cal Poly (twice) we have no business thinking we're all that, IMHO.
You must "RESPECT" all competition and play them hard consistently.

Everybody plays DIAA teams these days. Hell, ASU is playing TWO of them this year. And since Cal Poly I and Cal Poly II, I don't cast aspersions on any of them.

try to fill the Q- , and win the game- are the goals. Right now a W is a W, Much easier to have fans come back after winning then dropping the home opener.

I like that we have a couple of games that are not against heavies, before we play Missouri. It'll give some of the red-shirt guys and true freshman some game experience, and an opportunity to learn their roles and schemes before playing the HEAVY!

there is a BIG diffrence between Nicols State and Appalachian State or Cal Poly. But, We need every win we can get until we get to and win our first bowl in just under a century.

Totally agree that SDSU should not take anything for granted at this point in its football history. On the other hand, Nichols State has had only 11 winning seasons in its 38 years of playing the game, and only 3 out of the last 13.
Appy State, on the other hand, has a long and successful FB record. They are now working on a string of 16 straight winning seasons, including two FCS national championships.
Bottom line: anybody who puts 11 men on the field could, potentially, beat you. However, Nichols State is no Appalachian State.
In a sense, this kind of game is a no-win situation for the home team. If you lose, you are less than chopped liver. If you win, people say, What do you expect when you play a team such as Nichols State?.
Yes, it should be a glorified scrimmage, a chance to get a few things straightened out. Let's just hope there are no injuries.

BTW, in 2008, Nicholls opened at Memphis. The game was 10-10 at halftime, with 31-10 as the final. Nicholls had just eight FDs and 164 net yards but played very good defense in that one. They also lost to Northern Illinois 34-14 that year.
Based on the above, my guess would be that unless we give them turnovers (they scored their TD against Memphis that way) that they won't score more than 14. However, we should not be misled by the 72 that AFA put up against them. My further guess is they had never seen an option offense like that and were thoroughly confused. In the same manner, they will not have seen a 3-3-5 defense, either.
Therefore, I'll say the final will be something like 31-7. (Lindley will be pulled by midway through the third quarter, which will hold our total down.)

At least we have a coach this time who will not allow a let down against a team like this. The sideline demeaner against Cal Poly (forget which game) was unsettling. When I saw that... I knew we could lose that game!

It would be nice if the guys just came out and hung 28 in the first quarter, have some fun, and get the backups in, and both QBs

I knew we could lose that game! Certainly concur with this. I absolutely cannot imagine that this team will be as unprepared and without spirit as the team that went up against Cal Poly II. That game boggled my mind. A year to prepare for it with the knowledge that everyone connected with SDSU was upset beyond belief by Cal Poly I and then to show like they did caused me to drop out of sight on the old board until I calmed down. It definitely will not happen this year, the Aztecs win going away. This is a scrimmage, pure and simple, end of story. Yes, the players cannot afford to be overconfident about anything connected with football, including the time of day, but I recognize a scrimmage game when I see one.
