4 redshirts and a True frosh among the 15 listed in the three-deep; plus if you add Preston moving back there, that is a big infusion of talent to one of the weaker units last year. Gauld was listed at 2nd string guard but now at tackle and a red shirt frosh is in that position. Camp should be interesting to see who emerges as the starting 5 across the line since there are 3 newcomers sitting in 2nd string; also to see how many of the young blood d-backs get in the rotation.

I haven't heard of Japeth Gordon and now he cracks the 2-deep at left guard. Interesting that Jimmy Miller hasn't cracked the 2-deep yet (he was highly regarded out of HS, what's up with that?). Preston King is 3rd at X receiver, that should be fun to watch. Interesting, we have Fredrick Trujillo at 6ft 1, 225 playing DT? Our LB's are bigger than him. The improved off season conditioning should pay dividends.

Anybody heard what the deal is with Jacob Driver - LB. Thought he was an up and comer. Scout player of the year as RS I believe. Interesting not to see him on the 2 deep

Let's just wait until the pads start poping!!!

Oh, oh. Where's Perry Jackson? Don't know hopefully we will have him soon. Lets hope Hillman can put up some big yards and hold onto the ball.

Oh, oh. Where's Perry Jackson? I glossed over that, hopefully he'll be ready to go. I'm sure a lot of this is mind games and messages for the players not a complete and accurate description of what will happen, but him totally absent is somewhat worrisome.

About the depth chart... 1. Watched Spring Ball n Jacob Driver has a long way to go before playing.. Still small and I remember him walkn off the field without pads and has very narrow shoulders.. I think it will be a few years before he sees anything 2. O-Line of old (Miller, Quinones,Etc) will not play if they don't have to.. Look at the initial depth chart which is very generic yet guys who weren't even in the program in the spring are listed ahead.. Tells me that Miller hasn't translated and isn't going to be a college lineman..That class of Oline that Chuck brought in is woeful on talent, hence JC/Walkons taking their place.. 3. Expect this.. If Ezell Reffin can learn what to do... Our WR is Brown, Sampson, Sandifer, Reffin!! With Nichols, King, and Denso getting reps!!

Of course, what we see on paper may be very different from what happens on the field. Embernate still hasn't won his job back from Rivera. Makes me wonder if he didn't work as hard in the off season.

about old oline.. Meant the class of olinemen that are sophs aren't as talented as new walkons n JC guys.. I'd guess Rivera, Embernate, Johnson would all be battling it out to round out the oline of Trask, Bolanos, Gauld... The rest of the bunch in Miller, Quinones, Farr, etc will have a hard time seeing the field... Next year will probably lol something like Bolanos, Gauld, Corbett, Dilley, Embernate, Riviera,...

Someone asked where is Perry Jackson, the four star JC DE who was re-habbing his knee during the spring.

Someone asked where is Perry Jackson, the four star JC DE who was re-habbing his knee during the spring. he has been done rehabbing his knee. but its pretty simple. the reason why you dont see him on the depth chart is because he isnt good enough and hasnt done anything to show that he should be on there.

Is that because he's been rehabbing, or is he overrated?

I think we may be burning some redshirts and playing true freshmen by mid-season (or earlier). You can't ignore the size of the D-line recruits we have coming in.
Another "Jonathan Bailes" type situation. As a true frosh, he was an impact player.

There are also quite a few listed as back ups. That doesn't look to me that they are woefully weak. If they are woefully weak, what does that say about the new Olineman recruited the last two years? I only see one of them in the two deep (High School recruit).

LINEBACKER (LB) 9 Miles Burris, 6-2, 235, Jr.** 54 Demetrius Barksdale, 6-3, 210, Jr.* 37 Vaness Harris, LB, 6-2, 245, Fr.-RS
Does anyone know anything about Vaness Harris? Not a name I remember seeing before, but 6'2 245 as a RSF catches my eye. Nice height and weight combo; now if he brings speed to the table as well... Is this him? www.youtube.com/watch?v=QzCxGgGrwmo
