The play calling was fine IMO. Ryan "Big Game" Lindley left his game and what's between his ears back at the hotel. For a senior, he flat out stunk. This was worse than the AF game a few years ago. Sorry but your memory is very bad. That game was two years ago and although he threw two TD passes, I just checked and they were with 3:26 to play and on the final play from scrimmage on a Hail Mary which VJ Brown caught in the end zone. Considering we were down 26-2 when they first was thrown, both were meaningless. In that game Ryan threw four interceptions and also fumbled the ball on a keeper, which Reggie Rembert recovered and took to the house. Ryan played poorly today but not even close to as badly as he played in that game. What concerns me more is that he apparently let that game bother him since he turned around and considering the opponent, had an equally terrible game the next week at Qualcomm against NMSU. I think with a week off that we're going to play very well against TCU. However, we have no chance of winning that one unless Ryan plays like he's capable of rather than like he did today. With the maturity he now has, I think he will. He wasa sophomore then, a senior today. That's why I think this is just as bad.

He won't put anything together, he will continue to be the guy he's always been. At times he will dazzle us with the long pass, and befuddle us for long stretches with his maddening inaccuracy. He's inconsistent and always has been, that's not gonna change his Senior year if it hasn't already. That's a perfect summation. Unless he gets injured there's no way he'll get benched. Senior starters rarely are. We'll all have to deal with it.

A bunch of armchair QB's. It's real easy to sit on your ass and complain about someones play. Now, Ryan didn't have a good day and some has to fall at his feet. But, as I've said before, unless you know the play call, the reads and the route, then you don't know the whole story. He looked more erratic than usual today, but he again had some brutal drops. Lockett is a weapon, but he is also at times a drive killer. His routes are loose and he inconsistent hands. Denso had a couple of drops too. As for the OL, Embernate had his ass handed to him today. The line as a whole made the Mich DL look better than they are. Best post of the whole damn thread, on all points.

Just think of the pride all's you'all will feel when Lindley gets drafted somewhere in the first 3 rounds. "Look, honey, that's SDSU's QB on TV. I went there, that's my school!"
Bad game by Lindley, bad game all around, time to move on to the next game.

Ryan is inconsistent, always has been and probably will be for the rest of this year. But we've seen what he can do when all is clicking; like the last few games of last season, including that incredible performance in the bowl.
He didn't hit his targets today, and/or didn't make the proper decisions (QBing, btw, is almost completely about decision making)
But, I will never talk the mad $#!+ on him as some of you have here. Don't take this out on Ryan, our success is more due to that one player than most lazy fans will realize: tone/work ethic/attitude he sets for the ENTIRE team, both in the offseason, during the week, and on the sideline, class with which he represents the program, dragging out guys in offseason workouts, pride he displays and demands in our program.
Lindley is the MAN, and I'll be checking posts for some of you after he drops a couple 400/3 TD games on our schedule this year, and after ANOTHER bowl win.
HE HAD A BAD GAME, STOP CRYING
(one last thing, his ratio is 8 TD/1 INT this year, significant improvement)

Lindley's a good quarterback. He's a better quarterback when the other team can't get pressure on him with only four guys like Michigan did today.

I lay a lot of the blame on Ludwig for not switching to a short passing/ball control type of game. Also, there were way too many dropped balls, and Lockett's routes are just too sloppy/lazy.

It seemed like there was a high number of routes where RL and the receiver were not thinking the same. It could be the QB..or the receiver. Or coaching. Yes, it could be coaching.

Ryan's very good. I just haven't noticed alot of poise from him when he's under pressure. I think that's why there's all the overthrows and bad passes. He seems to rush the throw too quickly when feels the slightest pressure. Not good.

Whether you're a Lindley supporter or basher, I think we can all agree that his performance today was pretty disappointing. If he were a sophmore I would think differently but he is a senior and a team leader and should have shown more than what he did. Lets not kid ourselves folks, the WR's may have not been on the same page as him on a few plays but there were throws that were 5 feet over guys heads, or 5 feet in front or behind a guy.
Basically he stared down the guy he was going to throw to, he never even looks at more than 1 receiver each play, he stumbbled over his own feet about 5 times. It just looked like he lost his composure and was in a panic the whole game. I wish we had used the TE's more but the few times we threw to the TE's the throws were terrible. And some screens to Hillman would have been nice to see. Im not ripping on Lindley but, if I didnt expect more out of him then I wouldn't be complaining about this play today. Hes capable of playing so much better than he did today.

I generally support Ryan against the unreasonable expectations, but today he had a bad game no doubt about it. However didn't see the receivers getting much separation.

He sucked today. He's the leader of the team and we didn't score worth a crap in the second half when the d made some big plays to get us ready to come back. Isn't he responsible for being on the same page as his receivers? It was brutal and I screamed in agony as loud as I could on several plays during the game and most were the result of passing game miscues.
Do I think he sucks though? Hell no.
Am I going to give up on him? Hell no.
Am I going to give up on the season? Hell no.
Are we going to come back better for this loss? Hell yes.
Is Ryan going to put up some monster games for us this season? Hell yes.
Are we going to make a bowl game this season? Hell yes.
Won't we be stoked when we win it? Hell yes.

The Oracle has always been critical of Lindley's accuracy. The Oracle even tried to create a new statistic (DOT) due to Lindley overthrowing open receivers on go routes. Nonetheless, Lindley is a good player, and he's the best we have. The thing about Lindley is we all expected him to be so much better by the time he became an upperclassman because he showed so much promise and ability his first year. Unfortunately, he never lived up to our expectations, but he's still a good QB.
Lindley clearly has accuracy problems. He always has, and he always will. People need to stop saying it is the new receivers that aren't on the same page. Lindley has showed this inaccuracy his whole career. It didn't start this year. Moreover, he's playing with the same TEs and consistently missing them.
Lindley had one of the worst games of his career. His 23/48 for 253 was padded against a prevent when Michigan was giving him throws. Before that, Lindley was at about 35% for 100 less yards. There also wasn't much pressure in the second half, when the majority of passes were thrown. But this is Lindley. He needs to hit a deep pass to get a lot of yards, and he will complete about 55% of his passes.
The Oracle does not expect TCU to be much different. Lindley will likely complete under 60%, hopefully hitting at least one deep pass. He'll make some great throws and miss easy throws. That's Lindley. Good, but not great.

I'm intrigued to see how accurate our other QBs are. Nevertheless, I expect our team to improve next year.
