Interesting you bring that up Spud. The MWC board was about a certain few making fun of my brother in law, shortly after he committed suicide. Are you going on record as saying that making fun of someone who just lost a family member to suicide is OK? Do you support what happened on that board? #1...It is quite obvious that when I used ss (and I wasn't the one that brought it up by the way), that I am using it in a joking way. #2...There was a poster on the MWC playing a video (over and over for a couple of months) of a man committing suicide after I posted. Hardly funny, and obviously not intended to be funny. You don't see the difference in the two? And #3...Nice of you to wait about 4 months for your one chance to challenge me on something like that. You are a real man Spud. Oh brother...Perspective Steve. All I was suggesting is that instead of dismissing a very politely put request, you just give it two seconds of thought. That's all. Yeah, maybe to you there are big differences in the two...but maybe to someone else, there aren't. I'm not going to argue that because it's not germain to my original post. Again, it's all about perspective. Contrary to what you make think, I don't lurk in the corner and wait to "challenge" you. I wrote my emails to the admins because I support your concern for the Aztec Warrior. Maybe we should hug it out? You side with people that made fun of my brother in laws suicide? And you want to hug it out? I don't think so. You don't seem to understand life Spud. On a scale of 1-100 (100 being the highest)... -Zuma is a 5. -The suicide of a family member is at 100. For you to try and compare the two (or compare a suicide in a family to joking about the ss in a chat about a mascot) is disgusting.

Rulon and Steve, we're not idiots. We appreciate you guys pointing out the dangers and if what you're worried about occurs, we will act in an appropriate manner. But we don't need you guys to constantly put this in our face as if you're assuming we don't care. Believe it or not, we are quite willing to believe you are not crying wolf, but hammering us with it over and over is not the best course of action. =Bob Who is hammering you with it Bob? I am keeping the issue in the publics eye.

Keep up the fight Steve. I and many others are right there with you. This is the classic case of nobody giving a sh*t until it's too late. =Bob and others may think it's insulting that you keep bringing this up but if you don't, nobody else will. Keep it going. If it wasn't for you and Rulon's efforts, there wouldn't be a meeting in the next couple of weeks about the future of Aztec Warrior. You were right - the Aztec Warrior (along with Monty Montezuma) was getting swept under the rug due to apathy from the student and alumni base. Thanks to your efforts (and the efforts of others), this issue is now on the front burner and not the back burner.
Today's students for the most part don't give a sh*t about this issue and why should they? At this point in their lives tradition doesn't mean squat. Hell, when I was their age it didn't mean anything to me either. But that sad thing is that when it's gone..........it's GONE. And 10 or 20 years later they would look back and say, "how did we let Monty/AW get blown away like that?"

1611Aztectalk.com Now he is making up rules. Don't tell me what to post and not to post please. Worry about yourself. Nice. I guess it's ok for you to use "SS", an offensive term to people and tell people to worry about themselves and not tell you how to post, but didn't you blow a gasket on the MWC board because someone posted something that you found offensive and you called for banning, etc? Just sayin'...instead of blowing a gasket, how about taking a second to think about things...would it really be hard to not refer to the admins as "SS"? Spud, You can't compare the two. The issue on the MWC board was INCREDIBLY insensitve and something that MANY on that board decided to throw their own gas into the fire. Steve's post with the ss in it, was merely a response to a post that was meant in jest, unlike the responses and immature repeated acts on the MWC board. Maybe if you ask Steve if he could do it again and not mention ss, he probably would say yes. Keep in mind that the issue on the MWC board got REALLY ugly and everybody found out who the A"Holes on the board were. So, I think the difference is that if someone PM'd Steve or just simply asked him by post, not to reference ss again since it was personal to them, I'm willing to bet that Steve would not only apologize, but also never bring it up again on the board , UNLIKE what happened on the MWC board. It was a DISGRACE how much they escalated the issue to Steve, to get a rise out of him on that board. I would'nt do that to my worst enemy. So in closing, I'm just saying that you can't compare the two issues.

And equally disgraceful on that MWC board was that those who know me (quite a few that are on this board right now) did not intervene and allowed others to take those shots at me on that very sensitive issue. I will never forgive any of them for that. Never!!!

Interesting that Zuma was not at the last womens game?

Well, one thing's certain. If Monty is canned, it'll make all the "Monty" Awards instant collector's items…

Thanks all for the letters and calls.
As a result of these two threads there has been a mascot committee meeting called for this week on campus.
The issues being discussed will be the current Aztec Warrior, finding a new Aztec Warrior, and the role of Zuma.
From what I hear Steve Schnall and Jim Herrick will be in the meeting, and the current mascot committee members at SDSU.
Also in the meeting will be some members of the Aztec Warrior Foundation.
I am not sure what I will be able to repeat any details out of that meeting, but at least it is a step in the right direction.
Thanks again and never....never....never...give in on this very important issue.

Glad to hear something is coming of this. However, I'm not so optimistic that this isn't just to appease the handful of us who have complained about it and you'll get the usual "we'll look into it, but our hands are tied" company line.
I hope all parties are represented and well prepared for some honest dialogue so this is more than just going through the motions and two hours of finger-pointing.

And now back to our regularly scheduled Zuma programming.
Get rid if the cat. Now.
And give us back Monty.
