I agree up to a point. But if we can get Koren Johnson, we take him 1,000%. And Brumbaugh has the size where I think he could play alongside Davis as a pair of starting guards, no problem.

I was thinking the same thing, this year we had a similar line-up with Butler (6'2") & Trammell (5'9"). Brumbaugh (6'4") or Johnson (6'2") & Davis (6'2") work for me. Next, what about the NIL expectations? Following the coaching change at Wazzau, PG Miles Rice has entered the transfer portal. Standing at 6'3" and weighing 180 pounds, he averaged 14.8 points, 3.1 rebounds, and 3.8 assists per game. Rice played a significant role as Washington State secured a spot in the tournament, finishing as the team's second-leading scorer and leading in assists. From Columbia, South Carolina, Rice is a promising freshman. Our track record with transfers from Washington State, such as Malachi, X, and Valentine, has been a benefit for years.

Another PAC 12 Guard in the portal is Frankie Collins a 6'1" 185 lb from Arizona State.
Collins is only a career 31% 3-point shooter, but an excellent perimeter defender. He led the Pac-12 in steals at 2.6 per game this year at ASU. The former Michigan guard has one season of eligibility remaining.
Career Numbers Mich Frosh: 32 games, 11 minutes: 44%/17%/41% 1.7 RPG/ 1.4A PG/ 2.8PPG ASU Soph: 35 games, 28 minutes: 40%/34%/62% 4.1 RPG/ 4.3R APG/ 9.7PPG ASU Jnr: 32 games, 32 minutes: 49%/31%/58% 4.4 RPG/ 3.2 APG/ 13.8PPG
Similar numbers and playing style/skills as Lamont Butler.

You can scratch Koren Johnson off the Aztecs list.

You can scratch Jordan Sears off the Aztecs list. That's OK , if I never see another <6' SDSU Guard trying to play defense, I'll be happy. Watching Trammell get posted up all season was brutal.

No idea if we were chasing Koren Johnson or not, or if our coaches have even had time to think about the portal over the last week, but semi-disappointing to see him already at a top 5 without us on it. I know there's probably another ~500 guys that are going to enter the portal, but seems like it's gotten off to a quick start with commitments this year.

He has to be the smallest, thinnest, skinniest 6"2" player I have ever seen. I understand he is a true freshman but when he has the ball in his hands he looks like an undersized HIGH SCHOOL freshman, he makes Miles Byrd look like Jaedon LeDee. This team needs to get some size for next year (Height and Weight), they just got pushed around way too much.

Most likely it's not that the coaches weren't recruiting Johnson, but more that the coaches weren't "bidding" on Johnson. Unrestricted NIL is awful for college sports.

Hard pass on Collins. I have no faith in Dutcher adjusting his offense. Next year we’ll play through Waters and then rely on a 3 point shot if Waters can’t get a look. Collins isn’t a great 3 point shooter. Any guard under 40% from 3 should not be considered.

Little doubt that SDSU is responding to numerous guys in the Portal but the key then becomes which guys want to come to SDSU .
Some may think the NIL is not good enough for them or that as every announcer says when they do SDSU games - if you do not play good dense you might not get the PT you are looking for

He just needs to put on muscle. He’ll get there.

I bet BJ’s got 10 or 15 on him at the same point in their lives. He’ll get stronger and fill out, just like DJ did.

Below is a compilation of potential transfers associated with the Aztecs. The objective is to fortify our weaker areas, recruit skilled and seasoned players to guide the Aztecs toward another MWC Title and regain entry back into the NCAA tournament. It's important to note that while these players have been linked to the Aztecs, no official offers or commitments have been made public via social media or the press.
Frontcourt Players:
Amari Williams, 6’10, 230 lbs, from Drexel – 1-year potential. Trevor Baskin, 6’9, 200 lbs, from Colorado Mesa – 1-year prospect. Michael Nowko, 6’10, 240 lbs, from Miami – Potential commitment for 3 years. Dennis Evans, 7’1, 215 lbs, from Louisville – Potential commitment for 3 years. Xavier Amos, 6’8, 210 lbs, from NIU – Possible addition for 2 years.
Backcourt Players:
Jordan Sears, 5’11, 175 lbs, from UT Martin – 1-year consideration, but the Aztecs did not make the shortlist. Rowan Brumbaugh, 6’4, 190 lbs, from Georgetown – Potential commitment for 2 years. Frankie Collins, 6’1, 190 lbs, from Arizona State – 1-year prospect, unlikely to sign, looking for NIL $. Josh Corbin, 6’3, 190 lbs, from Robert Morris – 1-year prospect. Dominick Harris, 6’3, 190 lbs, from Loyola (LMU) – 1-year possibility. Taelon Porter, 6’4, 185 lbs, from Arkansas Tech – 1-year potential. Mo Odum, 6’1, 160 lbs, from Pacific (UoP) – Potential commitment for 2 years. Koren Johnson, 6’2, 175 lbs, from Washington – Consideration for a 2-year commitment but the Aztecs did not make the shortlist.
