I mean he could be making millions of dollars a year in the MLB, he's been disenfranchised of the right to earn as much money as other players with similar pitching abilities. He didn't get paid near that much in Japan. Not to mention, he made the most of his time in Japan and followed the law. Isn't that deserving of recognition and another chance to play in America? He. Did. It. To. Himself. No. He's done. As am I. Stop enabling abusers. Gross. This topic tends to reveal two groups of people: Those who understand that actions have consequences and the unfortunate group of males who are willing to excuse predatory behavior in the name of their favorite sports team. Trevor Bauer is not a VICTIM. The woman he assaulted while unconscious is. The other women he's likely done this to? Victims. Trevor Bauer is a multi-millionaire. Nobody should be crying for him. B.S. Nobody's excusing his behavior. Who do you think you are trying to label people in that category. Not surprised though. That's your theme. How about this. I could just as easily say that this topic reveals two groups of people. Ones who believe in second chances here, and one's who have forgiveness, and the ones who don't. But I wouldn't do that because I don't believe that for everyone except for you. So I won't use the word "groups." That's very irresponsible of you to make a blanket statement like that generalizing people into groups without knowing them personally. Get a grip on yourself. Sheesh.

No, you believe that the punishment that MLB handed down for Bauer wasn't a long enough suspension. You want Bauer to be permanently banned from MLB. I don't believe in that. I believe in second chances.

I believe in second chances. The suspension was fine. The resulting consequence of him not being signed is also fine. Stop talking about second chances, this isn't a one off. He has a well documented history of issues that date back years. What you really believe in is some sort of bizarre, twisted redemption arc for a guy who hasn't so much as apologized for any of his actions. Gross. Just...gross.

You believe that people who make mistakes should be blackballed. I don't. Pretty simple, really - nothing gross about it.

A mistake is driving over the speed limit or forgetting to lock your front door when you leave. Punching a woman who is unconscious in the state of California is a *CRIME*. You continue to sidestep the core problem here, which is pretty telling. He's eligible to be signed by anyone. The Dodgers paid him to go away. Nobody wants him. Why? His talent isn't worth the headache when he does this again. The amount of vetting teams do on specific issues like this is noteworthy. He threw away his career. Nobody else. If you want a real redemption story, try Brian Banks.

Trevor Bauer is a scumbag. If he had done any of that to my daughter I would have wanted to kill him.
He's a horrible person and the Padres do not need that kind of cancer on the team. PERIOD.

I predict the Padres to struggle to make it to 3rd place this year. I've had two drinks and I need to stop for the night.

Allegedly--the Padres will sign Profar to a 1-year/$1 million contract.
Per "sources".

The source is pretty solid on this one. I presume you're happy with the deal? Indifferent. It's fine, for the money. It's not the last move, thankfully.

Excellent. Good clubhouse and bench/spot starter guy. More importantly, it's only $1 million. Maxes out at only $1.5M with incentives, which should help the flexibility.

I think we're both saying the same thing. We might just be. Picking up Profar on the cheap makes sense. Not a groundbreaking move, nor a surprising one.

Bogaerts and Kim swapping positions...at least until Kim is traded.
