8 for his last 55. Frankly, I think it's silly to move him to AA. 8 for his last 55??? Wow. Maybe he was brought up because of need.

I don't think anyone is going to objectively care about a small slump. That's not why he's being promoted. Then...why is he being promoted? Couple of factors to consider: There's only two weeks left in the minor league season, so it's mainly ceremonial, unless San Antonio makes the playoffs (I haven't checked standings, in all honesty.) Organizational impression of his floor being so high that the immediate results don't matter and potentially getting him a head start on seeing Double-A pitching as he figured to be there next year, anyway. Puts him in line for a late 2024 cameo, potentially. Marsee, Martorella, Snelling, Pauley and Salas were all promoted to San Antonio. My hunch is that they want to keep that core together and see what happens with their development early on next year. And just a basic point of speculation: Payroll considerations on the MLB roster are a factor at this point and I'd be willing to wager they want to evaluate these guys as options for cost-control purposes, especially the college guys.

San Antonio is in the playoffs based on their 1st half record.

San Antonio can't hit with RISP either. They leave the bases loaded. Still tied going to the 9th.
Game is being played at Nelson W. Wolff stadium on the outskirts of San Antonio. Home of the restrooms with A/C. Thankfully.

Salas in his last 83 AB's this season--13 hits. No bueno. If pitchers have found a weakness in his hitting, I'm sure they're working on it.

No bueno. If pitchers have found a weakness in his hitting, I'm sure they're working on it. He's 17. Yeah, and you can still have a weakness at that age. I played with guys that couldn't hit a curve ball in high school, and that ended up being the reason they were released in the Minors. LOT'S of players in that category.

Yeah, and you can still have a weakness at that age. I played with guys that couldn't hit a curve ball in high school, and that ended up being the reason they were released in the Minors. LOT'S of players in that category. You're *supposed* to have a "weakness" at that age. I don't care about your experiences in high school, they aren't relevant here. He's the age of a high school junior facing pitchers six or seven years older than he is in a tough hitting environment, coming from the international ranks. You said before that that didn't matter, but it absolutely does. Everyone knew the results would tail off towards the end of the season. At the same time, nobody in a player development sense is going to worry about a small sample size of at-bats in a league where he's the youngest player by more than two years. When Fernando was promoted to Double-A during his age 18 season, he posted a .608 OPS and a .281 OBP. Does anyone care about that now? Of course not. The same thing has happened to other prospects; not everyone hits the ground running.
