Lets get excited about this guy. I like the way this guy plays just looking at the tape, he doesnt remind me of anyone right off the top of my head, and maybe that is a good thing.

From 24/7 Sports. A 6-foot-1, 170-pound creating guard out of Modesto (Calif.) Davis has seen offers come his way from Boise State, Cal State Bakersfield, Colorado State, Nevada, Ole Miss, San Diego State, UT-Rio Grande Valley, Washington, Weber State, and Wyoming since the month of June. “It felt good being from where I came from,” Davis said. “Being a nobody a few years ago to adding a few offers to my name feels good. It pushes me even harder to see what I can do.” With offers thrown down left and right this summer, Davis says Ole Miss, San Diego State, Saint Mary’s, and Wyoming are a few of the schools he is considering for fall visits. He breaks down a few of those programs with 247Sports: San Diego State: “They are close to home. I see that as a benefit. Obviously, they have a good history of winning with them always being a top 25 ranked team in the country.” Ahhh so you're saying being ranked in the top 25 DOES help recruiting after all... 100%. I’ve always said being consistently ranked in the top 25 is important for recruiting…to the disagreement of some here. It matters to kid and this is just some evidence for it. It raises our national awareness.

When he says we're "always being a top 25 ranked team in the country" I think us being consistently in the top 25 over the last 12 years is what he's talking about. Agree to disagree The kid is 17. Do you really think he's thinking about what we were ranked when he was 5 or 6? He's doing an interview saying we're "always" in the top 25 after a season we literally were not ranked in the top 25 once. All during a key timeframe of which we were recruiting him. That tells me he uses other metrics to judge teams besides the AP top 25. Yes, agree to disagree. He’s from Modesto so he probably remembers hearing (or seeing) us play in Nor Cal over the years or at SJSU or Fresno and oftentimes over the course of the past decade we’ve been ranking going into those places. When he says “always” he clearly doesn’t mean “always” as in every week. It’s just a generalization of his experience growing up. Since 2010 we have been ranked enough that most people that follow the sport now think of us as a consistent top 25 type program.

Very good player on a 30-6 Modesto Christian team that beat a lot of quality squads, including Campolindo (who I saw play in person), Lincoln (Miles Byrd), San Joaquin Memorial and Sheldon from Sacramento. Good competition throughout their schedule. They lost to a loaded Corona Centennial team in the Open Division state title game last season.

I love anyone that's a 50%-40%-90% shooter. They are few and far between.

Typical Aztec recruit. Under the radar, gym rat and plays defense. Welsome to the Mesa BJ.

Wow , he looks sound great. His work ethic will fit right in and if he can shoot anywhere close to his HS %s he will really boost the offense.

from 24/7 Sports: sounds like a KJ Feagin/X Thames type of player! "Just the relationship I built with the coaches and just the winning program and the location all fits me perfectly," Davis said of why he chose San Diego State. "Really just their play-style, defense and that's what I am doing and known for so it only makes sense," he added of what separated the Aztecs. Reminds me of Feagin too.

I really hope that he can be a distributor and set his teammates up for open shots. He looks like a good shooter and an athletic player, but I haven't seen much of his passing or his handles. I hope that he is someone that can be trusted with the ball at the end of the game.

Somebody said earlier that Davis is one of the two best players in CA. Who is the other one?

Reminds me a bit of a bigger version of Richie Agree, he seems to play at Richie William's speed with more athleticism and a better jump shot. GJ Gay is one of my all-time favorites, but he typically preferred to walk the ball up the court and set the offense. BJ looks really solid, but needs to work on his left-handed layups - some of those shots were a bit awkward.
