This year's draft class looks a bit down, especially when compared to last years. It might be the time to go early if you project as a first rounder. Don't get me wrong, I'd love to see Flynn stay, but if he has a legitimate shot at the NBA, take it. If not, the money internationally will be there now or a year from now

One of the announcers in today's game said Flynn reminds him of Dave Stockton. Not only a great compliment, but I think it's true. I didn't know Malachi was also a great putter? Yeah sorry. JOHN Stockton

would guess a lot could depend on he / Aztecs perform in MM . Comparing him with the other guards/players when the spot light is on all of them .
We also have some interesting games still during the season against the UNLV and Nevada guards
Also could get good match up if we play USU / Merrill in the MW T
Not sure how the freshmen class this year looks compared to next years - usually they are the first round guys selected
Next year we are going to need to replace Yanni and hope that Nathan can be a solid performer for the team to do well - could that be a factor in Malachi's decision also - one never knows what is important for a player other then most quality guys want to get into the NBA - first round . If not playing abroad is always there .

I hope Flynn decides to play a senior season with the Aztecs. But that's just me being selfish. Mostly, I hope he continues to be a successful person - wherever that journey may take him.

I didn't know Malachi was also a great putter? Yeah sorry. JOHN Stockton But Dave Stockton was a great competitor in his own right. Remember the old CBS Gold Classic at Firestone? Dave teamed with Al Geiberger and they went on a phenomenal match play doubles run, somewhat akin to the Aztecs streak. I believe the show was hosted by Jack Whittaker, one of the great sports announcers, IMHO, and made for great tv. Of course, you have to be my age to even know what I’m talking about. (way off topic)

Don't get me wrong, I'd love to see Flynn stay, but if he has a legitimate shot at the NBA, take it. If not, the money internationally will be there now or a year from now Comes down to his priorities & whether some team is assuring him of taking him in the 1st or high 2nd. Even in a down draft he's likely to be the 6th if not 7th PG taken - Ball, Mannion, Anthony, Hampton, Hagins, Dotson + 2 guys from France just to name a few. All are probably seen as having higher ceilings. Does he value being drafted in the 2nd round & working for a spot, while getting paid well, over his experiences at SDSU? Not sure if he's graduating, but should be close enough for that to be a non-factor. Basically the same decision Jalen had to make, and he made the right one for him. But Mal may be more into the college experience like Payton Pritchard was after last year. Same general decision that Pritchard had to make. Selfishly I hope he follows Pritchard's lead & not Jalen's, even if Jalen did the right thing for him.

Stan doesn't get much respect around these parts but he should get credit when it's due and his post on page one of this thread deserves it. As Stan then said, nothing should impact whether Flynn stays or leaves more than what the experts say about his draft possibilities.

Right now, he's a mid 2nd round pick. No need to leave early. He is pretty short to play in the NBA. It will depend on how he plays in the NCAA tournament against better competition.

Flynn looks quick enough to play in the NBA, we shall see soon enough.

Nah...he’s back next year. Projected second round pick, and has lost a redshirt year. I think he is testing the waters and gets the green light. Total complete player, better than many of College BB top names. Mid Second rd 2020 mcok draft: #43 Malachi Flynn 6-2 175 PG San Diego St. Jr. #45 Payton Pritchard 6-2 195 PG Oregon Sr. #50 Tre Jones 6-2 185 PG Duke So. #51 Cassius Winston 6-1 185 PG Michigan St. Sr. #57 Mustapha Heron 6-5 220 SG St. Johns Sr. #58 Myles Powell 6-2 205 SG Seton Hall Jr. #59 Desmond Bane 6-5 220 SG TCU Sr. #60 Cam Mack 6-2 175 PG Nebraska So.

I was waiting for an elevator at the J.W. Marriott next to the Staples Center before the Utah game and Flynn and about four of his teammates stepped off the adjacent elevator. I stood next to Flynn for about 20 seconds. I'm 6'2" and am a good 2" taller than Flynn. Just an observation.

Kyle Lowry is 6' tall, but thicker body. He seems to be doing alright.
If we make a run to the sweet 16 or better, Flynn is gone for sure. If not, it is how he does in the NBA combine.

But plays a little like John Stockton listed at 6'1 175, and Steve Nash 6'2 175. Heck Allan Iversson was 6'0" 160 and he could ball.

I like the fact he is ranked over Payton Pritchard (Oregon) and Tre Jones (Duke) that's a f****** complement to Malachi Flynn.

After watching his play today, I firmly believe that Flynn will now be a projected first rounder. He is solid and deserves to get paid now. It's always sad to not honor our undergraduates who leave before their senior year. I wish we could honor them on senior night somehow. even i didnt have guts to call him a 1st rounder. good call

Malachi Flynn will never be a first rounder whether or not he leaves this year or next. No matter how good he is in college, because of his lack of size and athleticism he won’t go in the first round. There is no incentive for him to leave this year. Don’t get me wrong, I still think he can have a solid nba career, but being a first rounder is something he won’t be. There’s a reason Myles Powell from Seton Hall, Markus Howard from Marquette, Payton Pritchard from Oregon, Cassius Winston from Michigan State are still in college. In their junior years, Powell averaged 23 pts, 4 reb and 3 ast, Howard averaged 25, 4 and 4, Pritchard averaged 13, 4 and 5, Winston averaged 19, 3 and 8. Winston and Howard were both 2nd team all Americans, but none of these guys were very much on nba team’s radars. And they are still either projected late 2nd rounders or even undrafted. Nba teams no longer, especially in the first round, draft purely on a guy’s college production. A team would much rather take a raw 6’8 freak athlete with no skill over a 6’1 point who is already near his ceiling as a player. It just is what it is. The only way I see Malachi leaving after this year is if he is just done with classes in college 😂. Alston from Boise has a better chance at being drafted than Malachi. frame this one Mal
