i think its safe to say Malachi Flynn is going to be a pro. Is this the final homestand we get to enjoy his play?

Great bit of recruiting bringing Mal here. I hope we get to enjoy his game another year. But for now, I'm just going to enjoy each game he and his TEAM mates play! Regardless of what Mal decides, we will have experience in Adam, Trey, and Jorden along with some really talented freshman in Butler and Dinwiddie. Go Aztecs!

No way he's automatically going pro after this season. Let's wait and see what happens next month. If we take the natty, then he should go. Right now I think he's projected in the second round, so he should think about staying.

I don’t see him going anywhere, imagine how much his stock will rise having another season to show his talent. Could be a lottery pick with a second year, he will have national pub all season and be the talk of the town.

If he does, that's great. Back in the Kawhi days, I was more like: "NOOOOOOOOOOOO! We'll never be this good again!" But there is life after these guys move on, I think we've since discovered. (And tell me you've lacked for pride about how well Kawhi has done in the NBA.) Flynn will have an excellent pro career. I think it depends on his family's circumstances, and how much he's enjoying being a college player as to whether he returns. It's a job when you go to the pros; A well-paying job, but a job nonetheless. I think these guys moving up reinforces the cycle and perception of new talent knowing they can play here, have an outstanding experience, and move on to bigger stage, fully-prepared.
In the meantime, he is a helluva Aztec, leading this crazy dream of a season that we still get to enjoy for another month and a half. He will figure out next season later. For now... Enjoy!

Hard t say. If he is a first round pick he goes. If not, then he should stay. He can always test the waters under the new rules. Obviously, and with selfish reasons, I'd like him to come back next year. But I would also like to see players come through here and make it to the big show as it is good for the program in the long run.

Guys are getting paid hundreds of thousands, if not millions a year to play overseas. That's a lot of money when you are making nothing in college.

How far we advance in MM will likely be a big factor. The deeper our run, the more likely he may leave. I’d love to see him back if he he isn’t slotted to be a first round pick.

depends on how MM goes , then NBA evaluation - also important is can the Aztecs get a grad transfer or high quality JC player to replace Yanni - we are going to need a quality guy at the 5/4 position . Also would guess Matt does the NBA evaluation to see where he stands - but think he needs another season

I don't know if he's got NBA potential or not, but I can't agree with the "he's got so much more to prove" mindset. He's a Top 10 POY candidate on one of the best teams in the country. I don't care how hard he works in the off-season, he won't have a better season than this one next year.

Pitino knows 2 things:
Strippers and basketball.
Flynn is going pro.

Yeah, but these guys have dreamed about the NBA for most of their lives, so anything less would be a disappointment. I do think Flynn has a shot at the NBA. For me, I like to see guys take advantage of their abilities go get a degree. When their playing days are done it really helps them to get into coaching - and I see someone like Feagin to be one to keep an eye out for that. Flynn should also have his degree after this season I would expect. If he is a first round pick then he should go. If not, stay another year. That is what coach Fisher always recommended.
