Hoke, dressed head-to-toe in Aztec Scarlet, was so excited about accepting the SDSU dream job that he didn't ask how much he would be paid in a contract that hasn't been finalized. "We would have walked here from Michigan," Hoke said.

The scarlet is ironic because when he was head coach he would wear all black at all times because he said any red reminded him of Ohio State. Times change.

Perhaps an unexpected ancillary benefit of Hoke coming back is re-invigoration of interest in some football fans who had become even more depressed about recent underachievement than the rest of us.

No problem with Hoke coming back. There seems to be some type of link between the Aztecs and Michigan. Fisher, Hoke....next up...the guy who gets run out of Ann Arbor because he can't beat the Buckeyes? And we know he loves San Diego. Wicker better be ready to pull the trigger when he becomes available. Just something think about. Or San Diego and Michigan. Think Jim Harbaugh as well.

Funny, I didn't think Hoke would ever make it back here again. Just shows you what I know about hiring former coaches. When he was here previously he and Long worked very well together, and Long is not one to forget 'Ol buddys. Now that Hoke will be in charge of the DL I believe you will see much stronger and better play from the line with his no-nonsense determination. Plus, he will have much more talented players to work with now than he had in 2009-10. Looking forward to great play in 2019!!! Welcome back Hoke!

I just want to beat UCLA. Hoke couldn't do it last time he was here and the pundits thought we had chance.

Having been a DL coach in the NFL just last season has got to give him great credibility with recruits too. I bet we land some real nice recruits on the D-line

It's very tough to recruit Power 5 quality D-linemen to the Mesa. We have to grow them in-house by recruiting fleet footed TE, OLB, DE (and bulk them up) or bring someone from the O-line to play on the D-line.

I understand your concern about building a stadium if the administration and wealthy donors are not all in to properly fund the football program rather than operating one on the cheap. However, I do not share your skepticism about Brady Hoke. As I believe someone else surmised, perhaps the Peter Principle was at play. I know it once was for me and four years in, I quit a job for which I lacked the proper skill set. That was a quarter century ago and it was a great experience in hindsight in that I learned where my strengths lie and where they do not and I've been quite successful ever since. Coach Hoke did a great job of cleaning up the dumpster fire Chuck Long created so until he proves to the contrary, he has my full support in this second go round on M ontezuma Mesa. Uh, he has proved to the contrary. Very clearly, in fact. Better yet, name one good football team he has beat as a HC in the last decade. He's a good DL coach. Glad to have him for that. Missouri, 2010. Oh, that's right, the blind refs, having left their seeing-eye dogs at home, failed to notice the Tiger's obvious last minute block in the back that made their winning TD possible. Away game, home cooking officials. A glaring blunder by the zebras cost this program a key signature victory. But we know that the Aztecs actually earned a big W but were cheated by those who were charged to keep the playing field level. I guess Brady Hoke gets no credit for his team's effort that day. Anyway, look at the records of Ball State and SDSU before Brady Hoke took over. If what he did with those two programs does not impress you, I'm wondering what would. AzWm
