what I wonder is: are the "scholar athletes" so dumb that they don't understand the NCAA regulations concerning "pay, loans, gifts, etc"? or are the agents and their lacks so damn devious that they can dupe 18-22 year olds into making these errors in judgement? "it's ok, boy, it's just a loan....nobody'll know, you all pay us back when you get the big bucks, we'll just jot it down on a scrap of paper--no receipt necessary, etc". my vote is it's the agents. Who hand writes this stuff in a ledger? My god, this day in age it’s really easy to not leave a paper trail. It is probably smarter than putting it into a computer, but still incredibly stupid that it was left for the FBI to find unless he wanted it to be found. That is the kind of thing you leave under your mattress or buried like a pirate treasure with a treasure map.

The NCAA has in essence said just in the past few hours that they will not do anything with the available information until after the season. They know there is a lot of programs effected by this matter and will be taking a different approach with punishments. So, Malik Pope sat out for no reason and I expect him to be back on Tuesday. I expect a lot of assistant coaches to be fired this off season and become the fall guys. As to Arizona, they will have to fire Sean Miller in exchange to not receive a severe punishment. I do expect the Nevada head coach to be one of the leading candidates for the job.

Well, FBI or NCAA investigations aren't going to be "completed" any time soon, so it's incumbent on SDSU to do their own internal look-see and find out if they're out of compliance given this revelation… Maybe it's "fake news" ?

Duke, Mich St and Kentucky all say nothing wrong was done and there will be no action from them, meanwhile SDSU is the first to suspend their player making it more of a national headline now as opposed to waiting to see what some of the bigger colleges do and then announcing to perhaps make it less visible. Yes, why do we have to be the first and maybe only team to do this and not only draw negative attention to the program but maybe unnecessarily lose a player. Michigan State and Alabama's best players are on the list along with a starter from Duke. U$C has two starters on it and I bet none of those four do anything. Why do we have to be the Boy Scouts here? The whole system is so hypocritical and full of money and lies and Pope got a few crumbs while the Power 5 studs got tens of thousands. I say let him play and if we have to "vacate" a win or two, SO WHAT?!?!?! I'd love to see SDSU pull off a huge upset in the conference tournament and go to MM. If it ends up not "counting", so what? This is all BS and smoke and mirrors anyway. The sleaze bags at the NCAA can't possibly screw everyone of those big-time programs on the list so why do we have to preemptively screw ourselves? And don't talk to me about "honor". Malik probably thought he was going to go into the draft and he took money he was sure he could pay back. He didn't get drafted and he probably was told to wait until he graduated or went pro. It's not like he stole it. The system is broken and maybe all of this will help fix it a bit. Maybe so but once the milk has been spilled, doubt the AD would change their stance....but who knows?

I'm so over Pope! He has been for 4 years the biggest disappointment in SDSU sports. Biggest recruit since Evan Burns in basketball. Bust! If Evan Burns had not gotten hurt he'd be Kawhi now! Pope on the other hand is a spastic when he doesn't play his role or stay in his lane. Every time he dribbles in the open court I'm screaming for him to pass. Now if he gets the ball on the block I'm hoping he'll pass to the open man. Yes he is athletic and can catch a pass 12 feet above the hoop and slam it. Can he do this in the NBA? NO! Now this. He can't leave the Mesa soon enough. I've been done for 2 years so let's not drag this out. I think we have the talent to overcome this but the distraction will be too much. POPE wins again! He loves the attention! Viva Greece, because that is your best case scenario!!!! OUCH!

Maybe he told Coach/AD he took the loan? If he said he did not, a suspension is overkill. Now, as to the possible infractions of the NCAA rules and regs or interpretation thereof......who knows?

No it isn’t. Sorry unlv fan, he’ll probably be suspended 3 games like Winston was and come back. [ We'll bet a 25,00 buck bet - to the student section. Oh, that's right, neither ones even bother. $#!+ Conference Good call
