So I'm hanging out with some buddies last night and was talking to a teacher friend of mine who is a transplant, lived here 5 years, and were watching the USMNT play. I mentioned how them being eliminated was bad for SC. He mentions how SD would be great market for MLS and would be stoked for a team here, I agree. We talk a little about initiative, and he says he thought it was Soccer Cit and SDSU together and that an MLS team was guaranteed here if they win the vote. He was basically going to vote for it because of that. Again, he's not a dumb a guy, and he supports education. Goes to show you the propaganda machine SC is/was and the catching up we have to do. Casuals like him probably have no idea what it's really about.

You are really clueless huh? You do more damage than good with all your assumptions and fake news. So that sounds like a guarantee to you? SDSU has a lot of work to do and you are no help telling everyone that its all said and done already.

Sacramento and Nashville will be chosen in December. Want to bet on that one? Detroit, and either Cincinatti, or Phoenix will be chosen in the next round. Think I am clueless? Ok, put your money where your mouth is. SD doesn't have a chance. They were destroyed the moment the City Council sided with SDSU and refused support a Special Election.

Critical thinking is lacking today... It doesn’t matter what the MLS guy said today, what matters is what they will say... and that takes some critical thinking... I would be shocked if they turned down the Detroit Lions/Cleveland Cavaliers ownership groups... The Detroit team like SeTtle and Atlanta would play in a larger stadium owned by the ownership group.

All they need to do is to tarp off upper decks as is done in Seattle and Atlanta, and you have an instant soccer facility. Nor would MLS turn down an ownership group that apparently really wants to pay that expansion fee to get a franchise.

Most people on Detroit discussion boards feel otherwise ..is your insider leaking you information again? www.reddit.com/r/Detroitcityfc/comments/7b1se3/so_ugh_the_off_season_long_and_dark_and_sad/www.reddit.com/r/Detroit/comments/7ajnhu/reading_between_the_lines_on_the_fordmls_thing/SDSU still has a lot to do and your idea of "helping" by telling everyone that the fs deal is dead and we dont have anything to worry about is probably not the best strategy. How about you urge people to go out and sign the petitions because there is a real possibility that FS gets what they want.

Soccer City is not dead until it is defeated at the ballot box. Not a minute sooner.

Although, I do know Slagle with Sacramento. I have not asked him the question point blank, but he would tell me if I did. Almost exactly one year ago I was super excited by what I had heard was coming, but as it turns out what SDSU was told was not what came about as FSI had other plans. I said then as I say now, FSI will never get the MV property via CI, it just won’t happen. It doesn’t take inside information to know that. I have been very supportive and vocal about signing the Friends of SDSU petition, but that has nothing to do with a conversation about how other cities are going to get soccer teams, because they are.

The Columbus Crew is staying in Columbus. They will be sold to Jimmy Haslem. MLS has promised the current owner of the Crew an expansion team in Austin. What that means is, there is only one more MLS expansion spot available. With Sacramento, Pheonix, and Detroit far ahead of San Diego, even if Soccer City passed (it won't), San Diego will not get a team. This needs to be talked about in the media.

Yep, Austin would be the 27th franchise. Cincinnati, Nashville and Miami will be 24, 25 and 26. There is one spot left, but I think this is what MLS is waiting for. If/when Soccer City loses, you will see a very quick announcement of the 28th franchise.

In my opinion, it takes work to be that uninformed.
