SDSU would Never be team number 11 or 12 in Big 12 expansion. SDSU's best chance to get into the Big 12 is as the 15th or 16th team. We still have time. Mmmmmm, I'd say 13th or 14th with SDSU West. Still plenty of time for SDSU to get it's act together.

Being one of the top 30 teams in college football IS having your act together, especially when you consider where we were before Rocky came to town. Guess we'll have to go undefeated to have our act together.

Here's an interesting article regarding Cincinnati. They seem to be putting a full court pressure on Big 12's powers-that-be. And they need to... because their appeal to the Big 12 is probably at its zenith right now (i.e., their appeal factor likely only decreases as time goes on).

U of Cincy 's biggest appeal is a traveling buddy for West Virginia . the Buckeyes and BIG control Ohio and most of the TV markets in the mid west . Not sure Cincy is a draw TV market wise . TV Money will be one of the major factors in the decision.. Where is TV market bigger /better SD or Cincy ? We do not own CA but good share of San Diego County but need to do more in the South Bay areas .
By expanding to 12 teams means each current team in B12 gets a smaller slice of TV money so need to find ways to get more , 14 teams really makes a dent in the money pie. MONEY is the key issue

MONEY is the key issue True, but adding, for example, SDSU and UNLV will add two pretty good markets and... 1. Another time zone which could be important to Fox Sports and their desire to improve programing on FS1 and FS2, or another network like NBCSC 2. Add an outstanding road trip to beautiful San Diego, CA. 3. Add the same for a desirable Vegas. 4. Create a better tie for 2nd tier schools like TTU and ISU, etc into the West, specifically CA. For me it is really easy amd should be the same for current B12 decision makers.

The timing of this is probably not so good as opposed to a year down the line when we potentially could be coming off an undefeated season with a brand new stadium in the works. SDSU would Never be team number 11 or 12 in Big 12 expansion. SDSU's best chance to get into the Big 12 is as the 15th or 16th team. We still have time. What on earth makes you think they would expand to 15 or 16 teams?

What on earth makes you think they would expand to 15 or 16 teams? Because that's the way it's going. It won't happen overnight but eventually there will be 4 16 team Power conferences. The Big 10 is looking at Duke, UNC and Virginia. Pretty sure the Big 10 makes a move in the next couple of years.

As others have mentioned, it very easily could end up with 4 16 team P5 leagues, if not 5 when the dust settles around 2020.

All the positive assets we have should be of interest to the Big-12. Should be, but apparently are not, since the only schools that get mentioned again and again regarding Big-12 expansion are BYU, Cincinnati, and sometimes UConn, South Florida, and Central Florida. We are prejudiced. We love the school and the area. And, to be objective, the assets we point to are not imaginary. On the other hand, the Great Middle West seems to think the country west of the Rockies is still the Wild West. AzWm

We have no idea if the assets we offer, as compared to Cincy or whoever, should be or are of interest to the B12. The only people who know that right now are Bowlsby & a few others he has involved in exploring expansion. Not someone on ESPN, Ohio Press, Texas Crap Paper, etc.
What we do know is our administration has talked to Bowlsby & have been in communication. Where that goes, who knows?
Yes, we're prejudiced, but so are 99% of the writers/bloggers writing these articles.

David Boren - President of Oklahoma - is driving this bus. Again, Texas has zero desire to expand the conference. They are travel adverse, make more money than anyone else, have ESPN locked into LHN and enjoy ruling their fiefdom. It's really hard to see the Big 12 schools having the stones to stand up to Texas and vote something through they are against. Hasn't happened before - why you saw the Four State Flagship schools leave.
So what has Boren asked of Texas? 1. Expand with two G5 schools. 2. Give up LHN and roll it into a Big 12 Network. 3. Extend the GOR.
The thought of many OU fans is they know this is an impossible ask and when it fails - Oklahoma will have the grounds to leave the conference for the Big 10 and break the GOR without penalty.
OR they could be wrong and Boren really does want to expand and force Texas' hand.
I'd bet my life on the Big 12 not expanding past 12. They are never going to add more than two G5 schools. Their President is already pissed enough with the academic profile and losing 4 AAU schools last round. But if they do expand, they are more than likely heading East. As already stated, Cincinatti would be a bridge to West Virginia. Then you find one more. Even if they did head West - they'd go to Colorado State or BYU first.
Now where SDSU does have a leg up is if Texas does roll LHN into a Big 12 Network and they are looking for cable households vs. metered markets since their TV contract allegedly provides pro rata with expansion. If you run the numbers of cable households in the Big 12 footprint - there is no expansion model that would make Texas whole (average 15M a year) and have enough money to pay out the rest the conference members. Again, another reason many believe the Big 12 Network is an impossible ask and non starter. Not to even mention the inventory issue the conference has as they sold much more of their rights to ESPN/Fox than the SEC, Big 10 or PAC 12. They don't have inventory to throw onto a Big 12 Network - one lousy OOC game each.
Could go on and on. But yeah guys - it's damn near impossible to see a scenario SDSU can jump ahead IF IF IF they do expand.

Believe the Sooners President felt it made just good common sense and sounded correct for the B12 to have 12 teams . Remember follow the Money . If the TV networks are giving the current 10 B12 teams say $21 million each . With 12 teams only $17.5 million . 14 teams $15 million ( drop of almost 30% ). 16 teams $13 million . How many schools are going to go for a drop of almost 40 % to go to 16 teams and why ?. They would want the TV networks to bump up the amount paid to the B12 . TV would want to be able to make some suggestions on what it felt were schools that could grow the conference ( TV markets ) . Schools can lobby , blog or as BYU has done pray a lot but in the end look for Money to be main issue . Money comes from TV networks , and what do they want more viewers so they can get advertisers to pay more money . Believe Sterk knows the economics and has been trying to increase our importance as a TV market .
More important issue and cost a lot less for P5 is getting the playoffs to go to 8 teams . More TV money for all , with out the head aches . Adding teams will not gain more for Conferences getting more teams in the playoffs will .

Big 12 allegedly receives pro rata from TV if they expand. Regardless who it is. Although that's been contradicted depending who is talking. Their conference commissioner said that wasn't the case, then Boren said it was last year. Of course adding two G5 schools and moving to 8 conference games only reduces the number of marquee games TV wants.

B12 also said last fall that there were No teams that really deserved to be invited to join the B12 . driving force IF they choose to expand is the playoffs and TV Money . If TV will pay for expansion to 12 teams ,then it may profit them to expand , or do they wait for playoffs to go to 8 teams ? MONEY is the key .

I don't think an undefeated 2016 would have any bearing on anything. The criteria for joining any conference is all monetary. SDSU is just not that attractive financially I am afraid.
Whoever said P5 inclusion isn't going to happen is dead on correct. Fun to talk about, but not reality.
I would be curious what SDSUs pitch to the Big12 has been to getting included? Some SDSU brass has to be making a case...no?

While we're waiting, here is a decent representation of how most Oklahoma fans feel (at least online) Big 12 *sigh* Expansion Talk, Here We Go AgainYou seem to be an expert on most things so what ever you would like to expand upon is good for me. What could be more important than education? And as an Aztec fan I am super duper interested in what OU fans think... I know from reading posts here that fans everywhere certainly know exactly what is happening at all times. (As a clue for you, the only reason I responded to you in the first place was because of your last sentence in the initial post I responded to. If that had been left out of your diatribe I would not have posted here as I understand it is speculation from all sides... exactly the same as the whole charger stadium/aztec MV west thing... another area of your 'expertise'.)
