We have two scholarships for 2016 and we need a couple of bigs so why not just offer the Allen brothers the scholarships in a package deal.

They sure would get a lot of PT and would be surrounded by a great team. Thats our only hole next year

I agree...just get them already. At least the City College one. Even if he sucks (James Johnson)... at least it's a body. We have NOBODY at the 5. Im hoping Fish has something up his sleeve and that's why he hasn't pulled the trigger on the City College Allen. In Fish we have to continue to trust. Josh Davis came out of nowhere. Even Garrett Green, too.

I also think the JC up north that Hut went to see is more likely to get an offer than the local JC kid. If they really wanted him they'd have offered.

Kavell Bigby-Williams and I think Hut probably offered while he was there. The kid is talented and we would be a great fit. I agree it would be mid-April before Allen would get an offer.

I don't care what Fish and staff think. If a couple guys on the internet say to do it, make it so!

While I agree we could use an another big, I think Nolan Narain, Zylan, and Pope are all athletic enough to guard other teams big men. Don't forget about the Aztec team several years ago that played JJ Obrien at the 5 more than half the game.

I have a feeling the coaches have a better clue than you on whether he is worth the offer. The Jarrett Allen dream has well passed. There maybe better opportunities that arise than Leonard Allen JR, I would rather have Bigby for starters but maybe even a better opportunity than Bigby will happen as a senior transfer or decommit cause of coach firing. We don't just need any big, we need a big that can play right away, I don't think that is Leonard Allen.

I've felt all along that Leonard Allen fits very well at SDSU as a preferred walk on, likely earning a scholarship after a season or two.

Some may think we are going to get who we want to come in and play the 5 but it has not been that easy to attract them to San Diego State.
Also if Leonard Allen was going to attend school is he considered an out of state tuition and costs that go with it for the family ?
Nolan was a 4 in HS learning the 5 this year , Zylan also a 4 - picks up a lot of fouls still learning the D , Malik has improved a lot this year on D but has very slender frame to play the 5

Nolan will not be heavy enough for the 5 next year maybe when he is a sophmore.I would rather see Malik there if he could gain some weight rather than Nolan. Then bring the JC Allen kid in to share minutes. And bring him on scholarship so we can have a seven foot option on this team for god sakes.

There's a reason 6'10 James Johnson and 6'11 Carlwell hardly played when we had more skilled, but smaller, 6'8 Davis and 6'9 Thomas ... and a reason we rarely recruit a bigger, slower 5.
Narain is going to measure a legit 6'10 220+ next year and is going to finish his career and one of the best offensive bigs we've ever had. Look at the kids tape and you see a player who can shoot from 3, but with post moves.
whoever else is recruited will likely be a 8-15 min per game backup.

We can wait and tap into the graduate transfer market. Without adding anyone the Aztecs can play some non-traditional bigs. We played good defense in the past by using a double of bigs. We did that against UNM's Williams and it was very effective.

We got thrashed by Duke big man last year and the NC State bigs also bounced us around like rag dolls a few years back.

We got thrashed by Duke big man last year and the NC State bigs also bounced us around like rag dolls a few years back. Against Duke we had Spencer and Chol. We may have done better with quicker bigs doubling. Against NC State, we didn't have a healthy Tim Shelton. Tim's knees didn't respond well to 3 games in 3 days in Las Vegas. He tried but was so hobbled that all he could do was foul. He only played 13 minutes. That Aztec team played 4 guards all season and, with a healthy Tim Shelton, won at Arizona, won the MWC, and earned a #6 seed in the NCAA tournament.

At a minimum, it takes up a scholie for two years. Ryan Anderson wanted to transfer here mid-year, but we had no scholies available.

We play talent first. Good programs never just take bodies. Cheathum and Narain would get smoked at center next year. The other teams scouting report would be they are weak and small inside. What would happen is those two players would get dominated by a much bigger player and foul out with no offensive production what so ever.We need a 6-11 or 7 foot guy to counter the other teams center. When their center checks out for a break you throw in Pope or Narain as a athletic 5.This is the only solution.Cheathum is too short for the 5 and I personally like him at the four.
