If Hut spent time in TX last week, I hope that he had time to visit with Leonard's Bro and give him the opportunity to play with his big Bro for three years @ SDSU. They could really help each other improve their games while winning a lot of games. Imagine a front court with MP, ZC, DA, MS, MCG, JMcD, NN, and now you add the Brothers Allen: Frightening for just about any opponent!
Let's get some Brotherly Love going for the Aztecs!

I am more concerned about replacing Shepard. His passing during the conference season has been great. I'm hoping Pope & Z (higher hopes for Pope based on recent play) can help fill that loss. Agree. Shepard is the best passer on the team as an individual, but I think next year's team will be a better passing team overall for 2 reasons: 1) Our FR become SO's, and 2) Our SO's become JR's. TO's have killed us this year due to poor decisions. With a year of experience under their belts JH, Kell, Pope & Z should see a step up in the decisions they make on the floor.

So moving on can anyone tell us who we are recruiting to fix this problem? If you're question is who are we recruiting to help play the 5 next year I think the answer is we won' t know until April-ish & we get a feel for which grad-transfers are available & open to coming here. That's our primary target IMO.
It wouldn't bother me one bit if we found a clone of Sky who wanted to transfer here & go after Sky's single season block record. That would be perfect. We'll have our share of scorers.

As mentioned . Grad transfers who can play 2016-17 season , names start to appear as teams get eliminated from post season play . Not always easy for the Aztecs to land a guy that plays the 5 . JC guys besides Leonard Allen who knows ? Any HS guys still around and Interested in SDSU ?
Winston does so many things well, that he will be difficult to replace ,including Senior leadership , but we do have a wide variety of guys that may each contribute in their own way .
2016-17 team may not have a senior in the starting line up ?

I'm comfortable with whatever the staff chooses with Allen, I don't think we have solid information as to how good he is right now,yes he was a solid prospect prior to momentarily quitting basketball, but it's not a safe assumption to assume he's the same level prospect now even with him putting up solid numbers in JC.

correct very difficult to predict what , any grad transfer , JC transfer or even mid level HS player maybe at SDSU . Taller players may not be playing against quality competition where they are at now . Taller players also take longer to develop .

Thank you sdcoug.I'll take a clone of sky and Manker combined. We need a 7 footer that can shoot from outside or inside and block shots.

What you describe would be a 'One and Done' looking to go to Duke, UNC, Kentucky, etc. Pretty unlikely to come onto our radar screen. I'll take a complete replica of Spencer, offensive "warts" and all. If possible, a total replica of Spencer with a couple legit interior post moves to the hoop.

Are you suggesting that Manker would see ANY playing time on today's team? That's just silly. Manker could hit a couple 3s, but was poor at overall defense and had zero inside game.

Why R we talking Leonard Allen? Is he some how back in the picture? I do not think the staff has offered him a scholarship yet.We are talking about it because he plays at a local Jc and he would be a great addition.I am also wondering what the coaching staff is waiting for.Possibly to see what grad transfers or transfers or the Jc season to wrap up.

I try not post much on this website because of sh*t fans like orginalshow00. However, I cant take the negative talk towards Spencer anymore. He has been great. His defense is way more than blocking shots. Watch him on the pick and roll, watch his defensive rotation, watch him guarding two players at once sometimes. He has been amazing. He has been good offensively in conference. He knows his limitations so he doesnt force a lot of shots. He is great rolling to the basket and catching the ball. Really soft hands. He can finish with either hand. Be grateful for Skylar, as you will notice a BIG difference next year. One thing I've noticed and greatly appreciate about Spencer. He plays within his game. Get him the ball anywhere in the paint and someone's getting yammed on. Otherwise, whenever the ball bounces his way, he always turns and starts looking to kick it out to a perimeter shooter.

Purdue coach has been in to see him play . SD City Coach has comments about Allen , he also was the JC coach for M. Thomas - former Aztec who played the 5 position for SDSU.

From the SDUT: "SDSU coaches aren’t allowed to discuss prospective recruits until they sign scholarship paperwork, but they also have been spotted watching San Diego City College 7-footer Leonard Allen Jr."
