It's a little sad that Fisher has to come on EVERY post game & ask those who weren't here to show up for the next game or give your tickets to someone who will. At this point in our program I wouldn't expect the coach to have to beg fans to attend games.
There is another Coach on campus that could use a little advice about how to get fans to the stadium....Coach Fish understands the importance and pretty successful at getting Viejas filled. Saying "fans can spend their money anyway they want" seems like the worst thing to say!!

2500 free tickets for the student section , yet it is not full , says it all . even noted by Coach Fisher . Same thing for season ticket holders. You think that how many students will come watch the football team play , even if on campus ? Q if there is a facility on campus for football ,what will the cost be for tickets ?
Zeigler is only stating the truth about a lot of San Diego fans . His bar code ideas are spot on . There are students who would like to go but can't because of those who do not use the tickets to personally attend the game .

To all of you young and old alike with absolutely nothing else to do or complain about: Move along, let the kids be kids. Every year we see the same group on this board complaining about the show, complaining about people leaving before the final whistle, complaining about (name a player) who should be benched. Enjoy what we have because we sure as F! Didn't have this when most of us were attending here. Go whine about unemployment, go whine about whatever pathetic Presidential candidate you don't like, go whine to your state about tax rates. Everyone needs to appreciate our final years with this coaching staff and the positive attention the Show brings to every game no matter how many members show up.
This thread is pathetic and agenda driven by all of you malcontents! That is all..

One issue is making it mandatory to be a student to sit in the student section. Many of the Show's originals were alumni or members of the community. ConGod was a student when I was in the 90s. Another is the Show now has a T-shirt most wear on game day giving it a homogenous look the oringal guys took pride in NOT doing. Hence all the crazy costumes. The Show used to mock what it has become. It was once a band of crazy, loud fans who didn't have to be students who took pride in not looking alike like those in Cameron. Now it must be students who prefer to wear their Show shirts. That has permeated into their cookie-cutter cheers too. This was once a section who mocked an opposing coach into flipping them off, drew the anger of mainstream media and chanted "nobody likes us. We don't care." That spirit is gone. But can be replaced with some of the solutions some of you posters suggested When the basketball team excited enough people to make those 100 folks that want to be little snowflakes surrounded by homogeny, that sounds like a good problem. The student section is one of the best in the nation. If old Show doesn't like it. They don't care. And neither do I.

It's definitely not the same "Show" so far this year. My fiance who is only a casual fan and has no ax to grind mentioned that she thought The Show was weak this year. It's too bad, I thought as the program progressed the Show would actually grow and get better.
Solution, start recruiting super fans right from high school cheer sections. Show scholarships! Get the kids who aren't too cool to cheer. (Joking of course)

I don't think the show has done squat since the Mormon show. Maybe time for a change in leadership? Let's get some origination

]Was one of the best. Now it is an average one living off their reputation. You should probably get out more, if you believe this. Even a less crazy Show literally beats out 90% of basketball teams, including a lot of bluebloods.

The show will be fine when conference comes around. Who have we played at home again? Illinois State, San Diego Christian, East Carolina, and Little Rock. The show has never been great against non conference cupcakes

I believe your comment about the old show not liking it is totally wrong. I sit near 5 or 6 of the originals. They look with quiet pride at the student section across the court from where they sit. They still join in the chants and cheers, loudly and proudly, stand for the fight song, join in the I believe, and sing along with they will not degrade us. The only thing they no longer do is jump. They care about the show as it is today, still the best.

You are out of touch with campus politics.
the show has changed its name to NOSHOW#emptyseatsmatter

There is another Coach on campus that could use a little advice about how to get fans to the stadium....Coach Fish understands the importance and pretty successful at getting Viejas filled. Saying "fans can spend their money anyway they want" seems like the worst thing to say!! If someone wouldn't buy a football ticket because they coach says they can spend their money any way they want, then THEY are the one with the problem.
Rocky could be more fan friendly, but at this point I think most who have an issue with him wouldn't change their mind no matter what he did. I appreciate his honesty. All I give a crap about is how they do on the field. I love football. I don't need a coach to motivate me to attend. If someone does that's too bad.
Viejas & the Q are completely different environments, with completely different sightlines. Recruiting to one is the same as recruiting to the other.

the Show is simply the catalyst . more important is getting all 2500 students there and sticking around for the game .
also would help if season ticket holders were at least using their tickets , for games besides Kansas , UNLV

It had nothing to do with fans not going because the coach said fans can spend their money any way they can. It's the sentiment behind that statement. It's like he doesn't care. I am commenting on the fact Rocky should care and do something about it. It doesn't have to be passing out tickets, but he should be selling the program to get people motivated, not just say "ah, they can do what they want"....it's like he says they don't need fans.

Classic problem of a leadership vacuum. Those loose band of rebels who formed the original show were visionary leaders in their own right. The problem is they all graduated (well, lets just assume that!!! ;-) ) and it's tough to find that level of tenacity year over year. While the students have been exceptional year over year in terms of showing up, the things that made the show great like costumes, big heads, unique chants, have gradually disappeared. They still cheer louder and longer than us blue-hairs up in the stands, so that's all good. Folks in the seats around us were pinning for the old days of Shownana, Showdora, etc...maybe make the bottom group an official on campus club and give them priority to the seats in order to entice some new leaders...or just let the flow happen naturally and maybe the season ticket holders on the other side of the arena can ban together to make up BLUEHAIRSHOW and show them whippersnappers how it's done? Tried that years ago with "SHOWTIREMENT VILLAGE'.
