The Raiders are the big problem. There's zero percent chance of a solution in Oakland for them. They're actually the most logical team to move in with Kroenke because that's the easiest solution to the Raider problem, unless they go to St. Louis but that really doesn't make a lot of sense. They've got no connection to STL. I still think it's ultimately going to wind up being the Rams in LA, the Chargers going downtown and SDSU moving into MV. What color is the sky in your world?

Here's a quote from Raiders owner Mark Davis in one Acee's articles yesterday "I'm a happy camper...everything is going to work out." He may be being disingenuous, but why would he say that? There are two cities working seriously on stadium proposals and an owner with enough cash to build his own in LA. Think Mark Davis knows he has a soft landing even though there is zero talk about a new stadium in Oakland? You may wanna look out your window and take a second peak at the sky.

Heaven help you if the Chargers stay and the Aztecs continue their existing role within the community. Worse, if the Chargers leave and there's no viable alternative for Aztec football. That the Raiders have no connection to St. Louis is irrelevant, they had no connection to the Rams either. St. Louis simply wants an NFL team and they've already lost one, so the connection angle seems secondary. One thing coming out of the owners meetings is when they go back to LA they want BIG! And Spanos doesn't have that kind of cash or cache. So most of your scenario is plausible. Here's how I see it going down: Kroenke with the better site and deeper pockets build "Jerry World West" at Hollywood park, and the mediation to break the voting deadlock comes by paying off Spanos. That won't be made public, but Kroenke will pay a substantial relocation fee and Spanos will get a much larger share than the other owners. The NFL will also payout more from the G4 fund to help Spanos build a stadium downtown, while the Raiders head to St. Louis. Keep in mind once a team moves to LA the NFL loses that leverage to use against other cities in the future, if they put two teams there immediately it's all but gone, making it even less likely the NFL would leave two cities making serious strides towards stadiums proposals high and dry.

MD Your boy Cory Briggs is working with fibs to get a January citizen initiative to circumvent a eir for a joint convention center solution in San Diego In addition the fat turd also reported yestersay that mark Davis is going to sell part of his team to a la form so he can partner with kroenke. What is going to be your avatar after the Chargers stay?

What is going to be your avatar after the Chargers stay? Your predictions are always on the money. . Dean and the gang have won and will get a stadium in san diego which has been their goal all along. It is simple negotiation tactics. Have leverage and aim high...which leads ultimately taking less than advertised and really winning in the end. Mark this post. before the football season starts the chargers and the politicians will strike a deal that does not require a vote. Deal with that.

What actually makes the most sense is for the NFL to green-light Kroenke & Inglewood -- it's the better project. The Rams would have to pay a pretty steep relocation fee that could be reduced if they take on the Chargers as either a tenant or minor partner in LA. The Chargers would also have to pay a substantial relocation fee to move to LA if they want a minor partnership in the stadium, reduced if they were to accept being a tenant. The Raiders would benefit from both relocation fees as well as an increase in the G4 loan amount to help fund the building of a new stadium in Oakland/Alameda. The NFL gets to have both San Diego and St Louis to dangle as either relocation or expansion markets for the next round of stadium negotiations. As it stands now, the stadium building boom is at a lull and will be for the next 5 years or so -- since just about everybody has a newer stadium (built or remodeled within the last 10 -15 years). Those teams that are closer to 20 years in their present stadium are most likely not leaving their present location. The relocation fees paid by the Rams & Chargers would help the other teams with future stadium renovations or builds. LA could be the gift that keeps on giving to the NFL for a decade or more ... I am just going to keep my thoughts on this the same as it has been

Unless he's not from here, I don't understand the second line of thinking. And that goes for all the haters around here. I want what is best for all parties involved: the city, the Chargers and the Aztecs.

I'm just going by all these so-called "reports" that the NFL really wants two teams in LA. I don't buy it but I'm just going with that for the sake of argument and the Rams and the Raiders make the most sense. Your point about future leverage with LA is a great one and that's why I never believed there will be two teams in LA. Also, the market just isn't there, especially immediately and especially with regards to the Chargers.

Md hnt
Here is what dean really wants:
Money from kroenke Money from the NFL Money from the city county Money from the psl Money from the naming rights Money from the corporate suites Money from super bowls not shared with Stan Not have to pay rent or maintanence costs
And a brand new stadium.
The bonus is in San Diego he has only the Padres to compete with.
Or dean can be dumb and either partner with Stan or pay rent
Which eliminates money from Stan and NFL Pay relocation fees Lose out on naming rights money Lose money from Psl due to competition Make less money from corporate suites And no public contributions Pay for maintanence and upkeep of stadium
And finally the bonus package is have to fight for every dollar against
Lakers Dodgers Rams Angels Clippers Kings Ducks Trojans Bruins
Which deal would you take?

unless they go to St. Louis but that really doesn't make a lot of sense. They've got no connection to STL. Yes they do. It's called pro football. They (arguably) play it, and America loves it. There's your connection. How much of a connection did the Rams have to St. Louis? The Cardinals to Arizona? Browns to Baltimore?

I'm sure there are plenty of folks sitting on the edge of their seats waiting for more 2003 wisdom.
