I do not think it is going to be easy to recruit that many quality recruits , yes we are a top 25 team but believe the thought is to be at least SW16 or better . to do that we are going to need to recruit as many top players as we can . What top guys do you feel confident about signing for 2016 .? Many times quality guys are brought up and then hear we are close but not likely . Is it all on getting Cage . what are the realistic chances of him being an Aztec 50% . Nolan Narain .? K. Smith provided a starting point , is the next clip going to be Aztecs lose top 65 recruit to Oregon . Is that going to help signing Cage and others . Realize if Smith does not want to come here then it is not going to happen but would be nice to keep him and build the class .

Not even close. Cole decomittted after he saw who else had committed to us. Keith Smith is our first recruit and we've had no other committments besides him. Best of luck to Keith, Lord knows none of us had as big of a decision as he does at 17 years old. I thought SDSU rescinded his scholarship because we over-recruited. Not at all. We had a scholarship for him and it was just choice to decommit.

This boggles my mind. What are parents thinking? I would want stability for my kid. UW has been anything but stable and why pick Romar over Fisher? Granted, SDSU doesn't and may never have the appeal of the Pac 12 but still... look at what Fish has done for Heath and all our alumni. Stabilizing a kid's life is more important than basketball. The fact SDSU is a perennial Top 25 program is a very very nice bonus and feature. Fish is a good coach...not a great coach. But he offers stability and guidance. As a parent, that's what I would want for my son if he's going to leave home for college. Romar has not proven to be even a good coach. And certainly has no stability. Keith Smart needs to live up to his name and be smart. Keith Smart played for Bobby Knight a while back (hit a pretty important shot)...this kid is Keith Smith Sorry haha! My bad. And SDCoug... good points.

If he wants to go somewhere else that's fine, but if a injury were to happen then I hope SDSU pulls the offer and show no loyalty because you know other schools will pull their offer to Smith if that were to happen, it happens to many recruits. I have a feeling Fisher would still keep the offer out there if that were to happen, but I hope he doesn't.

If you can believe this source and the website (just a message board full of hacks, idiots, trolls, psotters and the like), then there appear to be more details than just a choice to decommit: aztecmesa.proboards.com/thread/16673

Screw him...if he doesn't want to be here then it's better he signs elsewhere as quickly as possible.

But my point is we never took away his scholarship, if he wanted to come to SDSU and battle it out he could have. From watching him play at Nevada, I think he would have seen the floor for us for sure. The kid is good.

I'm not saying I hope he gets injured, I'm just saying if that were to happen, why should we not pull our offer like so many schools do? It's like how people were saying Pope should go pro because he might get hurt, that doesn't mean people were hoping he would get hurt.

K Smith has taken only 1 official trip , that was to SDSU , liked it and made a verbal . Now he has gotten other opportunities so he wants to look at others . A verbal as we all know is I like your school but if I get a better offer I may take it . . So both he and the Aztecs can look to see what is out there for both parties . Better now then in the fall . Nice kid but seems immature if he had his mother do the notification to SDSU , rather then grow up and do it himself . Would take a lot of guts for him to admit later that SDSU was the best choice , but who knows . We move forward and so does he . We have had good news , Malik coming back . Nothing final on Winston or D. Allen . or Grad transfer M. Tollefsen . Nolan Narain , Bailey, Lost Zabo , Saw Zimmerman sign with Rebels , Rebels are waiting to here from Wood . JAM center still due to open in August .

Too many sdsu apologists up and down this board. Still living off of the recent success and remembering the bad days. It's old now. This program needs to step up to next level. even with kawhis success, new practice gym, 2 sweet 16s...we lost all ground we made up to UCLA; Arizona just taking our recruits without much effort; our top players don't develop that much as compared to their hype; just lost Keith Smith, etc etc. I love what sdsu has become too just all of you but we just have no street cred With recruits. In Fisher we have to trust and I hope we can get this train moving. Just because some of us say it like it is doesn't mean we don't bleed red and black. I run my own nonprofit and the minute we stop being realistic with our funding or stop looking at things objectively, we go out of business.

Obviously this recruit has a LOT of love for SDSU (or he wouldn't have given a verbal) and is considering his options. No need to create a hypothetical negative and/or pull his scholarship at the first sign of trouble. Tapley has injured. The coaches stuck by him and that seemed to work out well for all parties involved. The KID is young. Let him make his decision. We are probably the best school for him anyways. No need to turn him off by comments about bailing on him if he is gets injuried.

I have a feeling Fisher would still keep the offer out there if that were to happen, but I hope he doesn't. "He doesn't" could refer to fisher keeping his scholarship open or the guy getting injuried.
