Well that's a bust, he was a great first piece for that class. Hope it doesn't turn out to be true, and he sticks with us.

Would expect whoever lands Aaron will get Smith. Not sure Aaron's worth the trouble, but a nice combination package.
Luckily it's WAY early in the recruiting cycle. Lots of "Shoe ball" to be played over the summer with plenty of prospects.

If I remember Keith's parents seemed very level headed . Would guess the Aztec coaches may want to have them take a closer look at how many recruits are leaving Washington lately . The Washington coach also offered an assistant coach for a College Womens BB in MZ an assistant 's job ,so they could sign his son -in 2016 or 2017. Also the situations that have been happening with some of the players on the Ducks MBB team.

That's a little odd for basketball. Once they verbal, the active recruiting usually stops, unless you are Bill Self. It sounds like those schools never stopped trying.

He'd be a douche if he didn't come here.

A "verbal" is worth less and less these days.

Man, after reading about his backstory and history with SDSU, I thought this thing was rock solid. Very unfortunate if true.

He'd be a douche if he didn't come here. Harsh. I would always encourage a young man to do what he thinks is best for him. This far out the Aztecs aren't hurt more than him never committing.

I'm high on the kid so this is very disappointing. However, if he feels Wash or Oregon are are better fits I don't want him here anyways.

Let's not overlook that Washington could be pushing this story.

I had no idea so I looked it up but I guess the Basketball the early signing period for 2016 is: (Early Period) November 11, 2015 to November 18, 2015
Just not really sure why he would want to go to Washington unless he wanted to stay close to home, since they are a bottom of the barrel team in the Pac and guys are leaving in flocks.

The kid is what 16 or 17 years old? Udub just lost a few starters, I think PT comes into play. Then of course there is some prestidge and benies of playing in the PAC and at Oregon - land of Nike. I know we have a better coach and program, but we play a MWC schedule. Our kids stay theirs don't. Who knows. Bottom line we have a better program than either O or Udub.
Both Goss Williams and Johnson just left Washington one would ask why?
Altman is under investigation at Oregon for covering up an assault and rape charge, then dismissing three players when the season was over, again is this a good environment? I don't think so.

I hope this isn't the case but I guess that's why it is happens when a kid make a verbal commitment so early in the process. Just means that SDSU needs to 'keep' recruiting him and assure him that SDSU is still a better option.

According to at least one report . "under the terms of K. Smith 's Verbal Agreement , he will be able to take visits to other schools and keep his options open "
I do not know what the rules/ guide lines are for a "Verbal" and if his are any different then most . Do not know what recruits can do or can not do . Same for what other coaches can say or do . As we know nothing is binding until you sign the NLI .
Believe he had an operation during his junior HS season. But going to skip the AAU spring /summer season . Usually very important for guys wanting to get recruited . Not sure what his plans are now . His father is a Principal in the Seattle area. His mother was with Keith during his visit to SDSU . Keith wanted to commit during his visit here . Had a great visit with the four Aztec freshman . While his mother met with the coaches and President of SDSU . But his parents insisted they go home and discuss the situation . They did and he made the Verbal the next Tuesday . Not sure if the Aztec coaches can comment about a recruit .

Not sure if the Aztec coaches can comment about a recruit . Seriously? There are ZERO rules and guidelines for "Verbals". It means absolutely nothing, other than they want to make sure they get a seat the table before we made offers to others & had nothing left for him.
Even then it's fluid.
NOTHING happens until someone signs a LOI, and yes, they get recruited after they commit. Often, more so.
Since he was unlikely to play much prior to the early signing period (Nov) I actually didn't expect him to get much play, but I'd guess Aaron got in touch with him & this would give them the opportunity to (potentially) play 3 years together. To play with a former teammate as talented as Aaron had to be tempting.
