IMO, Baylor has the ideal stadium size and amenities for today's college football. I have a friend who goes to Baylor who showed me pictures and told me about it. That's an amazing stadium right off the river, great atmosphere. People tailgate in their boats haha

Basically $11M in renovations for ADA compliance ... not earth shattering, and probably overdue "These changes will reduce the stadium's capacity from 30,000 fans to about 26,000, and season ticket prices will jump a couple hundred dollars depending on where you're sitting."

the reality is that SDSU is far closer to dropping football than they are to getting an on campus stadium. Says You! What evidence do you have to support that statement?

It's funny with all the talk about our stadium being considered not up to par with other schools, especially when it was really the greatest in the late 60's,70's,80's, and 90's. Many schools welcomed the chance to come , and play our Aztecs at the Q. They considered it "Big Time". Plus, it was quite often we had 40K, or more at games without any problems.
We can do that again. Even though the stadium is older it still surpasses most of the stadiums in our own conference. It' is bigger and better than what SJSU,Fresno,UNLV,Nevada,NewMexico,Utah St.,Wyoming,&CSU has currently. The stadium in Hawaii holds 50K, but it is showing it's age also.
As our Aztecs become a better team there is plenty of room for growth which makes it the best option for us right now. And, who said it could not be refurbished to make it better as other stadiums have done? It would be far less expensive than a new stadium, and probably go faster.

I forgot one thing about Spartan Stadium. There is a nice grass area just east of the stadium for tailgating. I was there for the 2006 game (which we lost!); said grass area was very attractive. AzWm The Grateful Dead played there on 4-22-1979, Brent Mydland's first show on keyboards with the band.

You are correct, but that is a rule that the NCAA routinely ignores. Worst offender is Idaho, with a 16,000 Zeppelin shed type indoor stadium. A few of the MAC stadiums are below 30,000, and I think also Florida International. Oh, yes, a couple of the newest FBS schools (Georgia State?) also play in very small stadiums. Some of those no doubt have plans (if not the money) to expand. As for Nevada, I think it would be a mistake to reduce seating to 26,000, even if the remodel results in improvements. They should shoot for 35,000. Doubt that expanding beyond 35K would make sense for them. AzWm

I still wish the Q was only 50,000 seats… 40K in a 50K stadium is a fantastic environment.

Good point Vision, however not having an On Campus Stadium with all of the benefits that go with that scenario, continues to impact our chances to move to a Big 5 conference. Chargers need to "S..t" or get off the pot" before anything relating to a stadium for Aztec FB will take place. Does an on-campus stadium that seats 35-40k really impress a Big12? They are used to 85k+ stadiums aren't they?....and fill them to boot Nope. There are only 2 Big 12 stadiums that are larger than 61,000. They are mostly all between 45k-50k, with a couple at 60k.

Also don't forget that the P5 conferences could kind of care less about stadium size or environment. They don't pay $20 million/year because of awesome stadiums. They pay that because of TV. We have a decent TV audience in a pretty valuable market. (SD, Riverside, Orange, and LA counties)

SDSU is also the only team (except for SJSU) where the real estate is ultra expensive. if you wanna build a stadium in Wyoming it cost about $40k. In San Diego it will cost $500k+++ up to $2Billion. SDSU is fine with what they have. LETS FILL UP THE Q!!!!!!!! We HAVE done it before. Win and we they will come. CASE IN POINT: every year at the SKY SHOW. www.sltrib.com/sports/2358226-155/usu-football-romney-stadium-corporate-sponsorWhat is the status of SDSU on-campus stadium upgrade? Oh, I forgot there's a basketball arena there. Damn. Please tell me, when the Q is finally put out of its misery and leveled who's going to pony up for a new stadium? Playing in an on-campus stadium pushing 50 is a budding tradition. Playing in a city facility pushing 50 is kinda sad really.

San Diego State is far more sexy than you think. Why do you think the BE considered adding a school that has done almost nothing in FB for over two decades? Just because we're not your type...don't get it twisted. lol
