Game was in hand during the second half, the crowd was amped, and there was a banner to be hung. Those are what is most disappointing.
I'm not disappointed, shocked or angered by anyone posting anything here. There are some serious douchebags posting who need to check themselves.
A few key points, which are all learning/teaching moments, then we move on:
1) Our guys didn't execute (per Fisher - JJ only had 1 shot attempt in the 2nd half - which means the offense was not flowing through him like previous games) after having the lead with 11 minutes left. Up to that point, I believed we would win. I even believed at 4 minutes. During that stretch. We did not make shots and got no offensive rebounds.
2) I don't generally blame refs but the free throw disparity is telling. Two evenly matched teams and the balls and calls bounced their way. You expect to get more at home. Fisher spent a lot of time barking at them and so did I. He and I rarely have to bark that much, so I think it was warranted.
3) Bottom line is give Boise credit. They played well, came back, hung on, and beat us at home.
It's over. I've blessed this loss and have moved onto thinking about UNLV.
This is an important week if we want to hang a banner.

The FTs last night were: SDSU 7/11=77%, BSU 16/20=80%. Those #s are assbackward for a home game & shouldn't happen! JMO! They were more aggressive than we were, plus some of those were late intentional fouls. So skewed. The eh main thing that frustrated me was we settled for way too many perimeter shots instead of taking it to them. Played tentative. but it's one game. Just one. Well my theory is the guys got frustrated with getting hacked and stripped in the paint with no calls from the zebra squad. They resorted to the unproductive jump shots once they figured out the refs weren't going to give them a call and trip to the free throw line! JMO

Yes..all good points, except ,, yes tHe Aztecs beat BYU...but the difference is... BYU Has Improved ..not the same team. Was watching the game and the BYU coach countered evry move the Gonzaga coach made and vice versa...SDSU vs Boise...only coach who made adjustments was the Boise coach How bout them Lobos this year huh? Its always good to remember it could be worse - we could be under .500 and have to go home to Albuquerque

The officiating was definitely not good, but we cannot blame them as they do not run our crappy offense. Fisher deserves the blame for running out such a horrible offense and not making the needed changes. The O has been petty good since the mess at BSU. Since then we've scored 67, 72, 63, and 74. Much of our game is slashing to the bucket to either score or get fouled. Last night, we were getting fouled, but the fouls were not being called. Refs were not the only problem, BSU removing JJ as the distributor hurt more. Without a true point, AQ is next best, and he was on the bench due to, well, fouls. Please let us know what kind of changes you'd like to see. Thanks Pope needs to get at least 10 shots a game! Horrible coaching only gave him 2 opportunities ! Inexcusable!

Could have sworn I heard Fisher and Dutcher say we have a chance to be really good. Chol was going to be really good, Kell and Shrigley were sharpshooters, Spencer most improved offensively. Winston had another year under his belt and won't make same stupid mistakes, yada, yada. Then yes, I bought into the hype and here I sit behind a keyboard on a message board.

All posts do not bother me...the site is for expressing..The bar has been set high on the standard by the fact the program is a national power. Try looking at the UCLA,UNM,Kansas, sites and the comments made there make those on this site child's play.. I find most on this site know the game well enough to warrant writing an opinion..I feel the staff and players do read this site, as adjustments are always made as per comments...A player is always subject to comment whether play is good or bad. A good player will learn from constructive criticism. An example, I feel Shepherd's improved play was spurred on by criticsm, but feel he took it to personal. He is learning and will be very good once he irons things out learning how to use his tools.

While I was at a hockey game Saturday night the city of Salt Lake was lit up around a sold-out Huntsman Center as the Utes took on Zona. At the end Arizona proved it is still the best team in the PAC-12. Utah, Gonzaga, I'd say the Aztecs are in good company..

New Mexico is my 47th favorite state in the Union. I'm so glad we aren't in UNMs position with a terrible roster, no hope on the horizon, and a joke of a coach. Wouldn't you agree?

For those that are on Facebook and looking for a break from all the disrespectful/negative nellies here, last week I discovered an SDSU MBB fan group in which EVERYONE was respectful during/after the loss. Was a nice tonic after reading some of the "fans" posts here. Here's a link to the group for those that are interested: www.facebook.com/groups/AztecNation

As I have written before, he had several open shots on Sat eve, and did not take them. Perhaps you might direct your questions to young Mr. Pope.

LOL So what you're saying is you forgot to mention the multiple times Pope passed up an open shot, especially when outside this game? Yup! Last summer we were all looking forward to out 14-15 BBall team. Heck, we had 3 5 yrs seniors and the best recruiting class ever. Once practice began, some stopped paying attention. They either forgot, or refuse to acknowledge that we lost ZC and MP for a long time. Then, as one of the best BBall writers in the country wrote, we had no point, and until we had one we would struggle. Kevin Z was a mystery. He didn't play AAU and though a talented PG in HS, could he play D, and would he mature quick enough to take the position. If no, our O would suffer, though we had better shooters than the previous season. It turned out that KZ was not ready, and the O suffered. Then, we lost a preseason 1st team MW player, who was our best athlete and shooter. Our O really suffered, until the staff decided to go with a PF, and JJ was in charge. It works most of the time, and I believe that whatever BSU did to stop it, will be corrected for the next time we play them. I should add that Shrigley had a broken elbow and AQ had a broken hand and still is suffering with a bad back. Now, they write that our coaches a are stupid and have no idea how to build an O.

Here, they can show their bedwetting credentials without being outed. And we have lots of bedwetters here who have no concept of the difficulty of competitive D1 sports. The spouting will always be here, you can't stop it. I just avoid the board for a few days after an emotional loss. By then, the juvenile reactions are more amusing than anything.

It's just a fact that folks on Aztecmesa love to complain! The Boise Game thread says it all....it was 5/6 pages long when things were going well, then at the 8 minute mark the $h1t hit the fan and the thread turned into a 20 page slam session!
It comes with the territory when people have such lofty expectations that are not met. The worst part to me is proclaiming someone "sucks" because they had a bad game or missed a shot. The Aztecs are a really good team that have some off nights. It builds character! It's ok to be upset, criticize, but to say they "suck" is just ridiculous. 90% of what folks say on a message board they would t say to the face of anyone they are talking to so just go ahead and brush your shoulders off!

Nobody with a spine reacts the way some here have, especially no one that has any respect for student athletes. I think larger picture it also shows who has a) been through diversity and knows how to handle it maturely, and who is b) content with their own life and doesn't feel the need to project.
