It is frustrating that we can't make any negative observations without responses like this. I can sleep it off but the WSIII line score will still read the same tomorrow. Take it easy, I was respectful with my observations and did not go blitzkrieg with four letter adjectives. My thoughts are not junk… they are simply my thoughts. It's more frustrating that after every loss we always have to read posts of our "fans" bashing our own. Cant someone be objective in evaluating this team without being a basher? We can not point out anything for fear of Monty's wrath? Save it bro!

There's a difference between "Shepard had a bad night, I hope he bounces back next game" and "Wow Shepard is teh suck why does he even play!?!?!?!?!!!111oneone" (Hyperbole used for the sake of making a point, but just barely.)

If you don't make post giving him love when he plays good...Like he did last game Don't make post calling him out when he plays bad Let me guess. You're kalua pig on the MWC board.

Winston did not have a good game . the only message that needs to be said is that the coach did not have him play the last 15 minutes . He and every player on the team has been inconsistent all year . Maybe 1 good game then not there the next . AQ last night did score 10 points but on 12 shots , 0 for 6 on threes - even one near the end of the game , plus another game with only 1 assist for the PG , he needs to know when he is on and when he is not with his outside shooting ,plus move the ball not dribble. Shepard has a lot of talent , and we need it if we are going to finish strong . He can help in so many ways even if his shot is not falling . Needs to be consistent every game . Still have a lot of games to play and need him to be a solid contributor. He has the talent to score 6-14 points a game , 4-10 rebounds , 3-6 assists , draw fouls , 70FT% , but it needs to be every game .

It seems to me this site is for expressing opinions...and feeling empathy when making a post.. The topic WS is not blasting the player..many posts are telling it like it is....Winston has had problems adjusting from day one. Winston and Polee are not a good fit for Fisher's style of 1/2 court offense. Both Flourish in pressuring the ball, excellent in the open court and quick hitting transition after steals. When placed in a box on a short leash..neither.. fair well. AT A Press Oriented/running program. (Cannot play like thoroughbreds on D, then throttle them down to plough horses on Offense)..... both would be All Americans!!... Untie the noose and loosen the reigns on the thoroughbreds sdsu is able to recruit...if not word will spread and these types of players will disappear Haha... "both would be All Americans". Ok, in talking about when they do run. Have you watched WS111 on a 3 on 1 break? Most of the time he makes the wrong decision. How does he finish when he is on the break 1 on 1? Somehow it is the coaching staff's fault? What a joke post.

Shepard has not lived up the the hype and potential that he had when he was recruited. Don't get me wrong I think he has a lot of talent but seems to have a hard time playing to a high level on a consistent basis. He is not a liability but more a roll of the dice. One day he is playing at a high level and another he seems to disappear.
He is one of us so let's accept him and back him every time he is on the floor.

I like Shepard's defense but what a waste of speed, quickness and height. I can't think of an Aztec that has gotten less out of his talent. Even the glue guy is getting a lot more out of whatever his skills might be. Your avatar. The Real Oracle Out

Welcome to a career in the Dleague Shepard...
Go ahead and declare for the draft if u want...it will be great to see you play with the Bakersfield Jam
And while you are there, continue to clank ur freethrows and 15 ft jump shots
And don't forget u have to work on going up strong...ur weak layups will my be enough...learn how to dunk and my just to get freethrows

The Real Oracle Out The glue had his best offensive game, but unfortunately he made Avilla look like Akeem Olaguon. In his prime. shep and Spencer were pitiful. so happy yo see the Pope unleashed, reminds me of Polee's release. for all you that think this was just one good game for Pope, what part of 6 10 feathery soft touch, ball skills, ATHLETE don't you understand?

I was SHOCKED when they let him shoot the technical. Of course he missed.

My purely uneducated opinion is we put too much on Shepard for him to carry. Our expectations were entirely too high. However, with the emergence of Pope and Shrigley finding his stroke, Winston can settle into a role he's more comfortable with. Shep's a good player but not one to build an offense around.

I wasn't aware at the time that he had the highest FT % of the players on the floor. I just thought once their handjob of a coach was teed up that Fisher was trying to show and build Shep's confidence early in the game. It seems if Winston gets going early he carries it throughout the game.

His first shot was a 3. He went downhill from there. He has better games ahead.

My 2 cent analysis is tha Winston is a good and confident human being but a very insecure basketball player. Many times, he plays very hesitantly and unsure of himself. Yesterday we saw him head faking under the basket and then throwing up a prayer layup. When you are as tall as he is and can jump, you don't need to head fake 3 times. Go up strong and up the ball in. I just don't think he believes in himself on the court and thus he is often guiding the ball or hesitating more often than not.
To be great, you have to be confident, decisive and aggressive. When win plays with those qualities, he is our best player

To be great, you have to be confident, decisive and aggressive. When win plays with those qualities, he is our best player I agree. I'm still a fan of WSIII and appreciate what he brings for the team. However, when you're 6'8, long and athletic and you get the ball under the basket, your instinct should be to see how hard he can rock the rim with a dunk. That is if you have confidence which shows in decisiveness and aggression like you pointed out I think that's why watching him lead a fast break is painful at times. It's almost like he gets stuck between two decisions which result in charges, getting blocked or just simply some weak finger roll crap.

WInston made a very poor decision on that fast break. Its funny our team is so athletic and long that we can do things that most teams can't but we can't do things that almost any other team can, finish on a 3 on 1 fast break and make free throws.
