The ESPN comment section has the polar opposite U of A fans there. It's probaby the most respectful pre-game comment section I've ever seen. A 180 from our UNLV and UNM threads on ESPN.

This is the same reason the BCS conference teams don't want to play non-BCS teams in football, especially in bowl games. I see their point, but SDSU was actually better than UA for a few years until they hired Miller and he started having huge recruiting success. Even now the teams are pretty evenly matched since Fisher is the better coach. Miller just crushes it in recruiting.

Wize beyond his tears Btw, I resent the infantile fanbase remark! In my case, I don't deny it, I just resent it!

I could do wonders with this website. This place is what my site looked like 8 years ago. And we make fun of Wize, not you. www.pointguardu.comYou and your website are infamous for being incorrect in all recruiting info you give. It's quite hilarious, actually.

I read the thread. Gee, I do not think that they like us. What you have there is a pure projection of fear. Their thread is a Freudian delight! Suffer on AU and pray San Diego never puts a stop to your summer refugee program. LOL

I understand this guys stance. Arizona has recruited and played at a very high level. He wants AZ to be at the pinnacle of college basketball every year like Duke and Kentucky. As non-traditional powers cut into your regional recruiting base it can prove problematic. We, and UNLV, have and will continue to get players that could help Arizona remain a nationally dominant program. When we compete and beat our regional blue bloods our program becomes stronger. I don't think that fans like this are afraid of the Aztecs. They don't shy away from playing programs playing at our level. But, having us in their back yard poaching players from "their recruiting grounds" can have a continued affect on the team beyond the W or L on their record.

"And their chants and whooping calls during games are intolerable." Lol And "U of A, U of A!" is? Haha this, such an unoriginal boring chant, it makes me cringe every time I hear it

Looking forward to playing you guys. Enjoyed the games we've played the last few years and win or lose it's going to be a good game for our team.
Also, most real Arizona fans would rather smoke a dog turd wrapped in grass clippings than give that shithead ACE a single page view or spend one second on PointGuardU, so you can all take that for what it's worth.

Unlike this dude, I'm not going to judge their whole fanbase according to a few a-holes that every fanbase has......but this guy "Wize" sounds like a whiney loser who puts way too much thought into his precious team's standing in the world. We aren't any team's "little brother", and I'm sure Coach Miller and his players don't look at SDSU in that light either. Sean Miller is to be commended for scheduling like he does. He's one of the few blue-blood coaches who actually has a spine. I know Miller recognizes the benefits gained from playing us nearly every year, both from a competition standpoint, and a recruiting standpoint. I know a lot of passionate UofA fans that are cool and respectful (my wife went there, so I know many), but this guy? Get a life, LOSER! I live in Phoenix. Most U of A fans are the polar opposite of that Wize cry baby. They actually enjoy watching our two teams play. Yo Stoner... I am in the Phoenix area for the holiday. My cousins here are diehard Wildcat fans. Trying to find a place to watch tonight's game that will avoid me getting into a fist fight with a whiny AZ fan. Any Aztec friendly spots in the city??? I know theres a pretty strong ASU fanbase here, so lots of hate for UofA already, but just curious if you know of a spot for us Aztecs.

Man, is that forum polluted. Obviously that guy has short memory as we beat UofA a couple times recently. Good I love college basketball, especially when you team is nationally ranked!
This win means so much to the program, so much. A win validates every media honks preseason opinion and paves the way for the crossover. This is the biggest game in the history of SDSU basketball to date. The media loves to be "right" and if SDSU wins, all of the media will be touting the Aztecs something fierce.

That's been my experience as well. Really, our two teams have become mirrors of each other, with the exception that they are able to bring in talent just a notch above ours - really a notch above everybody, except maybe Kansas, Kentucky, and a couple of others. I think the "rivalry" (many Arizona fans wouldn't agree w that term) has been mutually beneficial. Eventually we are gonna steal a recruit or two from them, but it hasn't happened yet with a 5 star. Not yet. But, we did get Kell who was offerred by U of A and from SD county. That's a first. The 4 and 5 star guys from here, always picked them over us. That was then but this now and now counts the most.

Zona basketball fans are usually pretty good. These sound like their football fans, which are the most insufferable breed of knuckle draggers I have encountered. It's a striking contrast between the two, and I hope that does not bleed over.
And the grad school comment was particularly ironic from my experience, but I can't refute others observations.

That was then but this now and now counts the most. Zona fan here. On the surface there is no upside in this game anymore for Arizona, we are expected to win and if we do great, but it is not going to make our season. However, a win by SDSU is huge for you guys since your conference is down this year and I am sure despite that you will be demanding a 1 seed in the West come March if you win this game. I think rather then bashing on Arizona you should just have some respect for us willing to play you. Ask Bill Self about playing Wichita St or how about K or Roy scheduling a home and home or playing in a tournament with VCU? However I love that we are playing you and hope we continue to do so because Miller, like Lute Olson before him is not going to run away from good teams or only schedule them at home. If it were up to me we would play a home and home with you guys, UNLV, Gonzaga and New Mexico all the time. This is not college football a couple of losses is not the end of the world and we will be fine on the recruiting front even if we drop some games. I was at the game last year and absolutely loved "the show", you have one of the best game day atmospheres in the country. Sure your fans say disrespectful things but so that is what fans do and it was amusing to see the look on some students faces when my wife lit them up. I also hope we absolutely crush you...but I do not except that at all. I also think this game will help Arizona even if we lose, since we are having trouble forming a cohesive team and a loss will certainly allow Miller to get the team's attention. Of course, I would love for the team to form cohesion in a win. Best of luck after tonight
