Z would start for unm this year. First off the bench and would play a lot of minutes but doesn't start overDelaney and Goodman. Starter sophomore year.

I think he'd start over Delaney because UNM is going to need rebounding from his position, and the first person off the bench is usually someone who can score in bunches. Goodman, probably, isn't on the Lobos if you had landed Z.

Are we talking about the same Delaney who played for you last season? If so that guy is nothing more than an average player that wouldn't see the floor for SDSU.

His stats are eerily close to one of our starters being discussed at length in another thread: 5.3 points 4.0 rebounds 1.6 assists 0.7 steals 0.3 blocks I wonder if Delaney is a 'glue' guy?

Did we just... agree to disagree? On the internet? I feel uncomfortable. Yes, we did. And... remarkably... it can happen without being reduced to juvenile name-calling and insults!

I think Chol should start over Spencer. I think that Chol can do everything Spencer can do defensively, and he's better offensively. If Chol does start, then we can have Winston, Polee, JJ, and a true point guard (Williams/Zabo) as the rest of the starting 5. If Chol and Spencer both start, then either JJ or Polee gets kicked out or Winston has to run the point (and I don't want that). Thoughts?

I'm sure that may happen in some cases, but Chol is listed at 6'9 and Spencer is 6'11. Against smaller teams we'll see more of Chol and less of Spencer and bigger teams we'll see alot of minutes from both. I really hope to see Fisher stretch his typical 8-man roster out to 10-12 this year so that we can fight the inevitable burn out that comes half way through the conference schedule.

The only true center on the team.

Williams Shepard Polee JJ Spencer
Williams is a true point guard, Q isn't. I will be watching Zabo early on because he may have a better skill set than Williams, but I don't normally want to see freshmen starting at the PG position. Williams doesn't need to be a great shooter (and he isn't, needs to put more air under the ball) but he does need to be able to drive to the hoop effectively. One area he needs to really improve is in his foul shooting (again, he throws up line drives). If he can penetrate and dish off he will be doing what you want your PG to do. Thames was more suited as a 2 but played PG because that was where we needed him to play.
I keep JJ in there because of his leadership qualities (you look at that lineup and decide who will be the leader if not him) but he is going to have to perform or we may see either of the freshmen or even Chol start in his place.
The wildcard will be if someone takes a big leap in the offseason )generally a guy coming off his first year at this level). Biggest candidate here would be Allen if he can improve his shooting as much as Franklin did between his freshman and soph years.
This team is going to be very deep once again so we can put a lot of different combinations on the court to create some matchup issues.

Kevin Zabo wasn't good enough to be the starting point guard on his high school team and half the people here think he will beat seasoned players like Shepard, Quinn, D'Erryl and Trey Kell for that spot? as a true freshman? LOLOLOLOL. Zabo was asked to move to 2 so they could showcase another player at PG.
