Does the AAC start with 8 teams this fall 2 from Florida , 2 from Texas , Temple and Memphis - good major population areas-(with decent travel to places and no elevation problems) and recruiting areas ,plus the two schools trying to get invites UConn and Cincy . Is a conference going to rush to add UCONN for basketball. There are more new schools then old in the AAC .Still think there could be more upside there then the MW . Is the Big 12 happy with the newer schools they added not long ago , do they really want to add more or just waiting to see what happens with Texas and the Sooners . Right now football team needs to win MW conference championships regularly and Bowl games . Sterk did try the Big East route but BSU bailed on us and the Big East would not give us basketball invite. He does know AD's from the AAC , also has contacts with Big 12 - they know we want to go there but it takes an invite from them. Sterk also knows the PAC guys and if there is any chance there, doubt they will add us . Is the PAC happy with their new schools Colorado and Utah .

The Craigy T.'s didn't need to replace Boise and SDSU. Based on how the NCAA accommodated the WAC, they knew they could play at least one year with just seven conference members and even if they felt they needed at least eight for a viable basketball league, they could have added only USU or SJSU and not both. Or if they actually thought they needed to backfill for both SDSU and Boise, they could have added UTSA and Texas State and basically simultaneously backfilled for TCU and therefore again had a recruiting foothold in Texas. Had Craigy T. been the producer of WKRP and Loni Anderson and Bailey left the show, Craigy would have immediately backfilled with Laverne & Shirley.

USD? lol. Perhaps in baseball. We have no true rival. Sent from my DROID RAZR using proboards There's not much steam to it due to the fact that they only compete in olympic sports, but you can't name another school that conciders SDSU it's biggest rival. They can think that all they want but that doesn't make them our rival. Sent from my DROID RAZR using proboards

Putting lipstick on the pig doesn't make it more appealing, which is the case here. Why everyone thinks going to the AAC is so great baffles me.

WCC for basketball?? You guys crazy? Other than Zags/BYWho.....one step above a gym league. Are you happy being in the MWC? If not, where else do we go? The BigLots Conference is ZERO steps above a gym league so the WCC is significantly better than the BLC. And my idea is for SDSU to encourage Fresno, UNLV and UNR to join us as a team. If the WCC took all four of us, half the basketball schools in that league would be decent to good and then the four of us would urge the AAC to consider taking us for football only. On that basis travel expenses would be minimal while we would get the hell out of the MWC which has been screwing us over when it comes to the TV deal. Granted we would have to pay a $2M exit fee to the MWC, but that modest amount would be well worth our freedom. And as I've also said, if the AAC wouldn't take the four of us, we play each other and BYU annually so we would then have just eight games to schedule every year. If BYU has been able to schedule a dozen games per year, we should have no great difficulty getting eight opponents. Plus if the four of us dropped out of the MWC, there's a good chance Hawaii would consider doing the same since they're in that woebegone conference only for football anyway. I agree and see that as logical interim and feasible step before the final P5 separation. Sent from my DROID RAZR using proboards

The only reason Aztec fans hate BYU is because they owned San Diego State in damn near every sport when they were conference mates and they're still butthurt about it to this day. It's like a Dodgers/Padres or Chargers/Raiders type of deal. It's a rivalry but the amount of hate isn't mutual. Every school in the WAC/MWC hates BYU because they damn near dominated both conferences.

It may have more to do with how bad the MWC is, and how many one-idiot villages comprise our conference---sort of America's version of Tierra del Fuego---thereby exposing the utter lack of potential in the Mountain West Conference.

USD game is a City of San Diego rivalry game- the guys play against each other in summer pick up games. For USD it is their key OOC game . BYU as mentioned says their arch rival is Utah , who they play in some sports during OOC games . Most teams disliked BYU because they won so often .Football right now could be BSU and Fresno in the MW- basketball has been UNLV and UNM . We also have strong competition lately for MBB games with Arizona , but also would enjoy beating UCLA and USC , if they would be willing to schedule games . IMO the Mountain schools are a pain to travel to and the elevation makes them better then they really are if we play at their facility .

Not many places we could go where we would be better off. Our best bet might be for Texas and Oklahoma to leave the Big 12 and get an invite there. Didn't they offer Air Force at one point?

WCC - did SDSU become a religious institution? Yes, we are pagan Aztec worshipers of the sun God, Tonatiuh, who sacrifice our enemies by cutting out their hearts while still alive to appease our God.

Granted we would have to pay a $2M exit fee to the MWC, but that modest amount would be well worth our freedom. Not sure if the MWC By-Laws have been amended again, but looks like the MWC exit fee could be as much as $5MM. See Section 1.04(b). I guess it depends on the whether you adhered to the timing requirements of the Notice Date... graphics.fansonly.com/schools/mwc/graphics/pdfs/handbook/1112-appA.pdf
