@jeffborzello: Michael Cage says his top three are Arizona, San Diego State and Kentucky. Cage is a top-25 player in 2016.

Some interesting notes to read from the article . He likes all three schools on the top of his list . Also of note he is looking for a school that actively involves the center in their play , not just a guard oriented offense .

Ya, what's weird is that none of the 3 really do that. KU is a PG and wing dominated team with the Harrisons and the James Young type guys they always seem to have, with production from PF (Randle, Lee) as well. U of A will be dominated from the 3 spot with Stanley and Hollis-Jefferson, along with Simon at combo guard in the future. And we sure as $#!+ don't run much through the center, unless its by design because Skylar isn't much of an offensive guy. I'd loooove to have a solid inside presence to our offense though, opens up a ton for our young shooters. Nothing builds confidence like knocking down some wide open looks of a kickout from the inside.

Kentucky has gotten quite a few PF/ C into the NBA the last few years . Aztecs would need to stress we work with all guys and revamp the offense to best fit the talent . Would he like to be compared to previous Bigs at Kentucky or be The Big to put SDSU over the top in the NCAA and then on to the NBA .

I thought the most interesting quote in the article was, “I’m trying to be a stretch four, maybe even a three.”

I thought the most interesting quote in the article was, “I’m trying to be a stretch four, maybe even a three.” Funny, he's describing a typical "big" position at SDSU. Our bigs can bring up the ball and can sometimes play point. Hint, hint. Oldie Out

Boy am I rooting for Thon Maker, Azubuike and Harry Giles to committ to Kentucky. If even one of those guys committs to Kentucky before MJ does, our chances look A LOT better. I really feel Kentucky is our biggest road block to landing him.

Don't count Arizona out. They have a long history of landing Mater Dei recruits over the years. I think they are a bigger threat than Kentucky.

Also of note he is looking for a school that actively involves the center in their play , not just a guard oriented offense . If you give Steve Fisher a low post player like C-Web, he will build an offense around him. It is remarkable how much the Aztecs offense has varied in the Fisher era depending upon the personnel. I am sure young Mr. Cage has been provided video proof of how Coach Fisher has used the talented bigs he has coached in his career. Like most (if not all) coaches, he has not had enough.

They are our biggest competition when it comes to recruits out west and generally get those guys they really want. It would be nice if he can spend some time with Chol when he visits, since he was considered a bit recruit for Arizona out of high school.

Think Kentucky , who have a variety of bigs going to the NBA and another group on the way , Arizona and even Kansas are all possible schools to contend for Cage with SDSU .

According to 247sports. Jerry Meyer predicts MJ to commit to the Aztecs. He originally picked Kentucky to land him but has switched his prediction to the Aztecs (7/23). 247sports.com/Player/MJ-Cage--28950

He has about 18 months to decide where he wants to play . The new facility being built helps . Could be nice if Josh Davis gets some PT in the NBA and Aztecs do well this year . Think if Spencer / Chol/ Cheatham also do well would add the thought that the Aztecs can develop players.
