Some of you guys are real douche bags. Yep you heard me, real a__ holes. Do you talk to fisher, do you know what is said. Just because you think you know what is being said or think you can read body language, you think you know all the answers. Leave the kid alone. It really makes me sick sometimes. You look to bash some kid for every little thing. Maybe he deserves the playing time, maybe not but that is up to Fisher to decide. Obviously he does stuff in practice that makes him deserving of PT. If you feel the need to bash a kid, maybe step away from your computer for the day and think twice about posting it. Agree 100%. Only thing I will add is generally those who make disparaging comments never competed at the D1 level yet seem to feel the need to be overly critical of athletes.

Even "Dutch" was having a hard time with Shepard last night.....not a good sign. Shepard needs to get control of his emotions and fast. Tapley or Jamaal should take him aside and let him know how important it is to focus on the game and ignore the refs and mistakes. Shep is going to be riding the pine a lot unless he gets his act together. You want Jamaal take him aside and let him know how important it is to focus on the game and ignore the refs and mistakes? Isn't that the a bit the pot calling the kettle black? ;D Anyone but Jamaal I laugh on this as well.

Exactly. I totally agree. I've never questioned his talent, but his bad attitude has been on display for all to see at some moment in every game. It's for all to see. He's going to lose valuable minutes towards his experience if he keeps it up. I don't want to see that happen. I don't like to see any player talk back to a coach, or big time a teammate. That has got to stop. It's the last paragraph that makes your comments ridiculous. It's fine to speculate as to what is going on with Winston's attitude. I think it's stupid, but if you want to do it, fine. Amoroso used to rub me the wrong way and I was never easy on him on ATalk, so I get just disliking someone. But when you take speculation, and that's what this all is, and then make these proclamations regarding playing time, big timing teammates etc. it makes me wonder why you're taking it so personally. I don't dislike Winston. I dislike the attitude. I'm someone who personally hates it when players argue back at their coaches and disses their teammates when they offer a hand. Ok, he's running the RISK of losing playing time with the attitude. I hope that suits you better.

Do you talk to fisher, do you know what is said. Just because you think you know what is being said or think you can read body language, you think you know all the answers. C'mon. Don't get so indignant and buttsore about this. You don't need to be the Hal 9000 to be able to read lips and discern what's going on. What do you think was said a few games ago when Fish took Shep out of the game after a boneheaded play/turnover? Shep came to the sideline and started chirping in Fish's face. To which Fish did a double take, scowled and then barked a couple of times. Shep then slinked away, took his seat at the end of the bench and buried his head in a towel. Just speculation on my part, but I'm guessing the conversation went one of two ways: Possible Conversation No. 1: Shep: "Gee, coach. My bad. I'm working hard on everything you taught me, but the ball just got away from me. I'll sit for a while and think about how to keep from doing that in the future." Fish: "No problem, kid. You looked great out there. Go catch your breath for a minute, and I'll get you back out there as soon as I can." Possible Conversation No. 2: Shep: "Damn, coach. That wasn't my fault. C'mon, don't sit me." Fish: "Go plant your boney butt on the bench before I plant it for you. Now!" I'm leaning toward Conversation No. 2, but what do I know.

Can't believe this thread doesn't speculate on the reasons Winston changed his shoes at halftime. I mean... he went from YELLOW to white. Talk amongst yourselves.

Ill take Jamaals, Shepard, and even Shabazz attitude over the likes of lesser players. Attitude can be changed but talent cant be made over night. Sheppard had a great night considering he is playing out of position. Just ask Anthony Marshall how difficult it is playing point guard at the college level. The point guard position in college basketball is the most difficult position. From what I see, Fisher just wants three things from Sheppard this year. 1. play defense, 2. Focus on dribbling the ball up and down the Court (no turnovers) and 3. is run the offense. Any additional points, shots, assists, etc is just extra for the team.

Maybe that's why Shep was in such a bad mood. Fish didn't let him wear his new fancy yellow jordans, and told him to take them off at half.

I read what Winston was back talking to Fisher about a couple of games ago. Not good. It's so friggin obvious that he needs to change his attitude, that I can't believe some posters on here are up in arms about it.

Of course after a beatdown of a local rival this board feels the need to beat down an 18 year old freshman and refer to him not lasting in the program. It's so ridiculous that words can't even put it in context. Is he 100% innocent? Of course not, most aren't. Does he deserve a 5 page thread of ridicule? Hell f**king no! It's threads like these that make me embarassed of my fellow alumnus and Aztec fans. I guarantee you Winton has higher expectations of himself than anyone on this board, as does any high level athlete. There's a reason why they're on the court and you're not. Get real.

I didn't know you had Winston mic'd up and knew the words coming out of his mouth. P Rivers looks like a dick on tv too but every one of his teamates has his back. It's not too much to ask for to not rip an 18 year old after a straight up beat down is it? IMO he showed really good signs last night, every college player has their flaws. Even Derrick Rose turned it over. And no, I'm not saying Winston is on D Rose's level but you get my point. C'mon Man!

I mentioned the Winston potential attitude issue after watching a few of his high school games, and then again at Midnight Madness. He is an emotional guy. He is either Habel or Jamaal. We'll see if Fish can rein him in. last night was horrible. i think he wants more playing time. but he really doesnt deserve it right now.

To those who are obviously faultless, especially when you were 18, give the kid a break.

Said this well before the season started: Winston's 5-star ranking was completely unwarranted. He played on the best prep team in the country next to some of the best talent in the country. Used his size and athleticism to push smaller kids around and pad his stats rather than really developing his fundamental basketball skills.
He was a decent passer because he was dishing the ball to Ashley and Bennett...Look at Marshall, avging 5.3 assists per game. Going by the numbers he's a great PG but anyone who actually watches the games knows your grandma can get 5+ easy assists per game just handing the ball to Bennett in the paint and watching him do his thing.
