Not a fan of Winston's right now. Emotional is good. That means he cares and takes it serious. Thats how Jamaal was (is). Alec 00 williams didn't and that's why he was a wasted scholly on our roster. Winson (hopefully) is just being hard on himself because he wanted to come in and be a star. I hope its just growing pains and he will work himself into a baller and mature through the emotions. nailed it, hes being hard on himself, and unfortunately he is letting it get in the way of his team mates... which is not good... hell figure it out

Reading comprehension on your part. I said he ACTS as if he's too good for the team. Hopefully it's not true. explain though In my opinion, by him not wanting to take direction from Fisher, not wanting to interact with players and dissing them while doing so, arguing with the coaches when the coaches try to explain that what he is doing is not the right thing to do, is acting as if he's too good for the team. Do I have proof that he feels that way? No. It just seems that he acts as if he is. What are your observations on Winston in this topic?

His act was brutal tonight. Pouting and sulking (and not getting back on D because of it.) Arguing with officials and coaches. But the worst was refusing to warm up for the second half. He sat with his head in his hand on the bench. At one point, Shrigley came over to try and talk to him, but he wasn't having it. Before the second half started, Fisher came over and the two exchanged some words. Hopefully he can pull himself out of this, but it's not looking good. Yep... Ebrahimian went to shake his hand at a timeout, Winston just shook him off and left him hanging. After the game, the entire team with the exception of Shepard went over and acknowledged The Show. Winston headed straight to the locker room with Fisher following a few feet behind. Several fans standing by the walkway leading to the locker room had their hands extended...nada, he just blew right through them. Then, not more than 10-15 minutes after the game, as I'm slowly trying to navigate my way through parking structure 4 (actually, at a complete stop), Winston walks past in a hurry, all by himself, with his hood pulled over his head. I love the kid and hope he does well in black & red and beyond, but he has some serious emotional issues that he needs to get in check. I do agree about his attitude but just want to point out that Jamaal hasn't gone over to acknowledge the fans a single time. Him and Winston are the only ones it just pisses me off

I agree with some of this, but there's NO excuse for dissing teammates and coaches. That's a prima dona attitude. In other words, he thinks he's too good for instruction and contructive criticism at this point in his young career. All I'm saying is that he needs to snap out of this attitude thing. He's not that good right now to display this. No one is ever.

Aside from the one bad turnover and the pouting instead of getting back on defense, I though the kid played a pretty good game. Made some really good passes, looked much more comfortable out there. What we're seeing is a lot of immaturity by a kid who has probably always been treated like the golden child. Now he's one piece of a very talented team as part of the second string rotation and he's struggling with that adjustment. I have a feeling that a year of experience on the court and a year of Fisher's tutelage will work its magic and he will have a true breakout year next season. If he's still pouting and slacking by the second half of the season, then I may start to worry. In Fish I trust.

It usually takes these kids having a real breakdown to ever ask for a teammates help before situations like this get any better. THe pride/ego factor in these kids is almost impervious. Look whats going on just a few hours north with Howland and his team. All the talent in the world and they cant play like a team. Hopefully he listens to his teammates, if it is that they're counseling him.

He had some good moves tonight, but he will never make it to the next level if he cannot control his emotions. When he had that turnover caused by the USD guard, where the ball went out of bounds, he had complete anguish in his face for at least a minute after that. Right now he just can't shake off his Freshman mistakes. His mind is his biggest enemy. Hang in there Winston. At times he reminds me of the pouty Billy W. He did show some good stuff out there, but seems to have a tough time going 100% all the time. My jury is still out, but no decision is needed until the Big Dance.

Agreed that Attitude needs quite a bit of a adjusting. His ball handling skills definitely needs improvements. Hate to say it, but that is probably one of the hardest thing to coach. You either have it the skill or not. The little guy on USD #00 had some pretty amazing ball handling skill. Winston should workout with him after the season.

After watching Winston the whole year, I am not impressed at all. Compared to the Freshman version of Kawhi Leonard. Tonight I was thinking his handles are not even close enough to be a point guard, and his passing is not that sharp either. Throw in his spoiled brat antics and you get a kid who will not last the season with SDSU. I predict Shepard will be gone before the 2nd semester starts and Shriggs will come off his redshirt status. I have no patience for Shepards baby boy antics anymore. Don't let the door hit you on the way out son. Sometimes as a leader if have to tell your charges to either shape up or ship out.

Isn't he learning a position that he's never played in high school? Look at the PGs that we've had over the years. Their best years started in their JR year. Give the kid some slack. He's frustrated.

I've watched him very closely in every home game and to me what appears to be pouting or sulking is him getting angry at himself. He seems to just be super emotional and gets frustrated with himself if he misses a shot or turns a ball over. This. The kid is supremely talented and hasn't made the adjustment to the college game as quick as he thought he would. He is clearly frustrated with himself. And by the way he never warms up after half time. Last nightwas nothing new. Yes there are high expectations. But its time for everyone to get off his back. We don't NEED him to be the superstarsthis year. And I'm sure his expectations for himself are higher than any of us.

Winston has unbelievable nature talent and through the roof potential. Give the 18 yr old kid a break because he’s not living up to your expectations. He wasn’t a Top 5 McDonald’s American that was suppose to come in and jump to the NBA after one year. Show your support to an Aztec who’s struggling and get behind him with encouragement. Many of you wanted Fisher fired, Rocky fired, and never though much of Jamaal. What time has shown is many of you are wrong and need to support your Aztecs when they are down and stop trying to run them out of town.
