Had this kid gone to camps in the summer and been "promoted" by his 7 on 7 and HS coaches he'd be a four star going to UCLA or USC. As has been said before, these are the types of under-the-radar kids we will make money with.

He is another stretch recruit. We are not closing the deal with our first choices so now the only choice is to back fill with maginal recruits.

Get over the latu twins. You guys are acting like they are butkus and ray lewis.
They are good, but not elite, aand will be serving a two year mission.

They would be our 2 best recruits in a long time. Read a post by Adam Gorney from Rivals.com and he was at the Upland vs. Rancho Cucamunga game last week and said Viliami Latu was dominant and will be in consideration for a 4th star in the next evaluation period. Just sayin.

Its funny that you take his word for gospel, but huffman compares victor to ayers and it doesn't mean sh*t. If they committed to sdsu, you wouldn't see them for three years.

ugh you guys get soooo worked up about second choices its stupid. For example, when a random kid lists a top 5 of ASU, UW, USC, UCLA, and SDSU and that kid picks USC, guess what happens???!!! 4 of those schools have to go to their backup plans as well. and guess what??? they have backup plans for those backup plans, and more backup plans for the backup plans for those backup plans. you all act like SDSU is only school ever having to resort to a backup plan in their recruiting. Good recruiters don't just pull in priority recruits, they also have good backup plans and evaluate talent better than other coaches. unfortunatley none of us will know how good this kid actually is for another 3-4 years when he is either a RS soph or RS junior. and if he's getting serious playing time in 2 then we'll know he was a steal.

This is true, but most schools have been hosting official visitors. In your scenario, he has probably taken visits and decided in a head to head match up. You lose out like that? Fine, at least you got to show him what your school has to offer. I know SDSU doesn't have the same funding or budget as some of the bigger schools, but we seem to only have committed prospects on campus for visits. Trips are being planned and taken every week and we have not had anyone on campus for an official. Tough to get recruits if they don't take officials. Other schools are wining and dinning these guys and SDSU is just letting the better prospects fall off the board.

Can someone who actually knows please comment on whether or not we have been having kids on official visits or as gonzo suggests only committed recruits on officials?

I mean taking visits now, when the better prospects are also taking visits. Nobody has taken an official to the Mesa yet. SDSU encourages prospects to take the visits in December, when 90% of prospects are already committed. Last season, we had everyone visit in late December and almost all of them were SDSU committed prospects. The only guys I remember off the top of my head who were uncommitted during an SDSU official were Kenny Orjioke, Alex Jackson and Jonavaughn Williams. All signed elsewhere.

;D I am glad the coaching staff is going after some taller athletes in with the size of JC LB Derek Largent. Such is the case with Ben Moa, and recruits A. Victor, R. Rix, and Dakota Turner. They have size to play LB, but if theygey larger, they can play DE or DL. This is why I think Coach Long and staff have already started recruiting for the BE. I think this recruiting season, getting replacements in the DB to replace McFadden and Wade with top DB frosh or ready made DB JC guys will be important for next season...walkonza...Go State! ;D

;D I forgot to mention, I'd like to stop the verbal glorifying of perceived top recruits. These guys are in HS. I am glad the Coaching staff first trys to get the upper level recurits but if they don't get them they move on quickly. I want players that want to be AZTECs! If not, no harm, the Coaches go to the next player on the Board that fits! walkonfan.... GO STATGE!

I don't get what everybody is complaining about, I'm glad this kid is coming and wants to play at SDSU, I can't wait to see Azeem and Ricks coming off the edge and reaking havoc for the red and black in the future
