This is a self fulfilling prophecy. The more you all keep talking about how concerned you are, the more there will be to be concerned about. We have just landed two 4 star recruits who knew full well about the Big West and who were being recruited by our MW rivals as well as several Pac 12 schools. They chose SDSU not because of the conference, but because of the program, the coaches, the fans, etc. The MW, once we leave, is a two team conference. The rest will be shite. They can talk all the smack they want about the BW, but the MW will not be what it is/was.
Also, there are some kids who care about conference, there are others -- see Dakarai Allen and Winston Shepard -- who do not. You win some you lose some. My money is on Fish and Co. winning many more than not.

Tell the recruits that this will be an easier annual path to the NCAA tourney and a better chance for them to display their skills on a national stage. Conference champs get automatic invites and pretty much running the table in conference will be very doable.
An OOC schedule that includes some tests like PAC 10, BE, Gonzaga, UNLV, UNM, BYU and Big 8 schools and the occasional pre-season tournament will set up the team for a good seed.
An annual trip to the Big Dance should not be that hard to sell.

I dunno if this means much, but what about playing closer to sea level? Aren't Wyoming, Air Force and CSU up there in elevation?

Glad some of you guys are not recruiting. I wonder what people said about the little coach with a lisp.

I am so sick of this conversation. People act as if we used to go into homes and tell kids to come play for us so they could be in the prestigious mountain west conference! Come on people! Yes it is a better conference than the big west but don't oversell it! This is not the big east we are talking about here. We were never selling our conference before and wont now. Play for a good team and you'll get noticed and the NBA will come knocking...what 99% of recruits are looking for along with a great college atmosphere. We have both. Move on. +1million! I highly doubt the recruiting process sold the MWC. It's about coaching (and we have a great one), exposure (and we will get alot of it) and ranking (we will be highly ranked). Once we finish non conference play against good teams and good tournaments, playing in the BW will maintain our spot in the rankings and possibly move up without any losses. Consistent NCAA tournament appearances will make any recruit happy to come to the mesa.

Also, people don't realize that one of the reasons the Mountain West is so good is because of US!! As soon as we go to the Big West, the conference RPI will instantly increase and the Mountain West's will decrease. The Big West will pass the Northeastern, Southern, and Patriot League easily, as well as others

I have a question. Do you guys think that Gonzaga's success was a reason for St Mary's becoming a solid basketball program? Or was it Patty Mills.

Have not seen the ticket prices have you....It could be enough..lolol I have. Assuming SDSU sells all of their tickets, that still leaves the department about $19,200,000 short. Wow! $20 mill for a basketball "practice" facility. Nice practice gym I would say!

What's easier, may i ask... placing top 4 in the MW or avoiding a buzzer beater loss in the conference tourney (or for that matter a loss to Long Beach?) and with the 26th ranked conference containing multiple 300+ rpi teams and one under 100 rpi team, no OOC we are capable of putting together is enough to get us a "good seed". unless you consider an 8 a good seed.

Yes, RPIs will be the same for ever and nothing is ever capable of change. The WCC always had a bunch of good teams. Eurasia has always been at war with East Asia.

That's never been the case and it certainly won't be the case in the future. Just ask the 2009 Aztecs. Once the Pac12 stops being dog$#!+, the MWC will go back to being a 2 to 3 bid league. 2012 was the last year we will see 4 teams from the MWC in the NCAA tournament. One advantage that the MWC will always have over the Big West IMO, is that the regular season 1 seed from the MWC will always get a at large bid. That will not happen nearly as much in the Big West.

I'll bet you 3,507 internet monies that the mwc gets four in in 2013 as well. And for that matter, double or nothing they get 3 and the bwc gets 1 in 2014.
