BBA hates on Shep a lot... has been hating since we were recruiting him. My only guess for this hate is that he viewed Shep as the potential biggest threat to Jamaal's playing time. While there really is no threat there at all (Jamaal will/should lead the team in minutes imo) - its pretty silly to rank him last on the team. He is a better player right now than both O'Brien and Polee.
Also, kind of hard to rank them when you combine the 3s and 4s. May as well include Spencer and Johnson since we really do not have a "5"
Out of the guys you listed, I would ranke them:
1. Shepard - Was perhaps the best defender in the ENTIRE country his senior year. A great passer and above average rebounder. 6'9" with a versatile game, one of the tougher matchups on our team.
2. O'Brien - Seasoned, smart player. By all accounts will be a stabilizer, a smart player who can do a little bit of everything - an injury-free version of Tim Shelton with more offensive game, perhaps?
3. Stephens - one of the biggest motors I have ever seen. He will be maybe the most important player out of all these guys in terms of giving us size and athleticism down low. Needs to stay out of foul trouble and learn to hit a free throw.
4. Polee - he can jump out of the gym. Great shot blocker. Thats really it, his biggest moments will come on the fast break.
5. Shrigley - I put Shrigley last because I dont think he is nearly the defender as any of the other 4 above him, and he would get the least amount of rebounds of any of them. Best shooter out of them all but thats about it.

The highest Shepard could possibly be on this list is #4, Shrigley impresses me with his perimeter game and athleticism so I give him the nod over Shepard right now.

I've only seen Shrigley and Shepard play a couple times each on tv, and was completely unimpressed by Shrigley and can't imagine why you would find him better than Winston. This question has been asked constantly on here and you have failed to answer it once. You're the only so called analyst that considers Shrigley better than Winston, so please tell us why?
You clearly understand basketball, a lot more than most people on here. The problem is that you allow your personal bias to influence what you call "analysis".

I already explained this but I'll do it again for you: Winston's 5 star ranking came on the back of playing for a great Finlay Prep team. He was a role player for that team who didn't really have to do much for the team to win. His 6'8 frame on the perimeter at the high school level was overwhelming for most opponents. He is a solid defender, he can rebound and he can pass in transition, other than that, he does not have a College level offensive game. He can't shoot the ball. He's very limited off the dribble. O'brien, and Polee can both do the same things Winston can do defensively, but they'll be able to provide WAY more offensively. Stephens is better defensively and much better on the block. Shrigley may not be as good defensively, but he's much more polished offensively. If Shrigley Red shirts, I won't be surprised because we have Jamaal, Chase and James to score for us this year, Shrigley will be more valuable next year when we lose all that fire power.

Most important is that we have the best backcourt in the conference and up there, nationally. They're the ones who are going to win the games.

So, you're telling me that all recruiting experts (besides you, of course) mistakenly gave Shep a 5* rating rather than the 1* rating you think he deserved? YOU'RE A f****** RETARD, BRO. Look BBA, I'm the first one in favor of coming on this board and causing a ruckus for all the old farts on here, but your opinion on Shep is CLEARLY biased and just f****** stupid. I was a proponent of yours until now. It's great you love Jamaal and his game, but making idiotic opinions on another player is just plain wrong. I know plenty of people with direct interaction with prospects and I'll take their word any day over yours. They've analyzed the game of all of the guys on the squad and there is no way any of them would rank Shep as low as you did. I'm starting to think you're one of those creepy NBA-prospect chasing low-lives who do nothing but cause harm to a program. Your opinion on Jamaal has been spot throughout, but even a broken clock is right twice a day. Just leave.

If it makes you feel better, I'd give Shepard 3 stars because of his length and defense. If he's a dedicated gym rat, he could develop the type of offensive game that could make him a Trevor Ariza type down the road. But today, he's just way too raw for 5 stars and not on the same playing level as the Forwards I ranked ahead of him. Scouts get it wrong al the time. There is a reason why he didn't get offers from Duke, Kentucky, UNC and the othe premire schools. Top tier schools don't just let sure fire 6'8 wing players slip through the cracks.
