;D
For Defensive Coordinator - I thinking that DC should be someone that is familiar with AZTEC football, previous DC experience and familiar with 335 and other variations. Also, should be looked at as future head coach candidate. I like former linebacker coach for AZtECS, and Standford co-DC and current DC for Nevada --- Andy Buh.
For Offensive Coordinator - Should have knowledge of AZTEC football, previous offensive coordinator in NFL, known as offensive guru and even head coach experience - Brian Billick for Baltimore Ravens HC and Aztec assistant coach.
These two would be an excellent base for Rock Long to take what has been started and lift to the next level and build an AZTEC coaching tree for the future.
Whats your opinion!

You're dreaming if you think we can get Billick.
DC- Well one guy we supposedly offered already turned us down (Troy Reffett) and the other that most thought would be in the running hasn't been offered yet (Osia Lewis). So I have a feeling that we may not have a DC this year. As for Buh, not sure he has an experience in the 3-3-5 so he would be out.
OC- The consensus pick is Chow but with the conflicting reports on his hiring at Utah he might be out. Supposedly Borges knows the new OC very well (if a posters comments can be taken truthfully). My top 2 for the OC position: Dan Dodd Dameyune Craig

If you watched Nevada play Boise State, Nevada played variations of 4-3 and 344. Nevada defense was "stout". I don't know if we could get Billick but I think he would bring a lot of great experience to the offense. walkonfan...

Buh is next in line for HC at Nevada and that program has a lot going for it, so a very unlikely pick. I was the first person to bring up Bob Toledo's name for OC and still think he may be a candidate. I have no idea about the DC, possibly a former DC from new Mexico? Anyone know anything about Troy Reffett? www.ulmwarhawks.com/ViewArticle.dbml?DB_OEM_ID=19000&ATCLID=3705085

Hopefully he changes his mind after signing day.

if NCAA rules permit former Aztecs who have been in the NFL should do a video or something stating their support for SDSU and coach Rocky Long - and find way so recruits can view it. Maybe these guys can also help with finding a OC even DC.The OC needs to be top quality name and able to recruit- recruit and coach- MAJOR importance for Rocky and the program- this is something that should have been thought about even before Brady left. Our AD needs to call Brady and suggest he has raided the staff and have a civil bone not to take any recruit that the staff worked on while he was here. Go after MI people not CA

Comments: 1. I wonder who on this board is SDSU1971 on UNM's. 2. rudyc is a major jerk. 3. I only noticed the names above to have been stated in one post. 4. It's nice to know UNM still has a few football fans.

Rocky will be the DC,he has only two guys he wants and they do not want to go to SDSU. As OC it could be anyone who has experience running a pro offense.

My guess (not my hope) is that:
Rocky will be the defensive coordinator for 2011 Toledo will be the offensive coordinator for 2011.

Do we really want to hire an Offensive Coordinator who’s currently a Head Coach somewhere else and then decides to leave days before or days after signing day? Not only do we look like the bad guy but what does that say about that coach.
I think Rocky will be the defensive coordinator at least for next year.

My choices for OC: 1. Friedgen 2. Buh 3. Toledo 4. Chow Buh coaches defense. Would love for Buh to come in and be the DC. Bad move when we let him go.

My choices for OC: 1. Friedgen 2. Buh 3. Toledo 4. Chow Andy Buh is Nevada's DEFENSIVE coordinator. As an aside, failing to retain him from Craft's staff was just one of Chuck Long's many blunders. A former player whose name everyone would recognize told me he was hearing that Buh, not Kaumeyer, was regarded in the coaching fraternity as Tom's best hire. Somebody who knew Buh posted on AztecTalk that he had run into him on campus right after his interview with Chuck and Andy really wanted to stay. Instead Chuck hired the scary guy to be his LB coach and then fired him after two years while Buh was hired by Harbaugh and in four years went from Stanford's LB coach, to co-DC to Nevada's DC and he's now considered Nevada's head coach in waiting. (Tick, tick, tick . . .) Any of the other three would be great IMO, particularly Chow or Friedgen. Either would be as good an OC as anybody in the conference would have. If Rocky doesn't hire any of those three, look for him to hire Dodd, who would be fine too. Look at who Tulane's QB is. Ryan Griffin, a kid from Chaminade HS in the SF Valley. A pro-style kid who was Phil Steele's #45 coming out and had a very good 2010 season on a very bad team. That's impressive to me in that it shows both guys continue to have recruiting ties to SoCal despite being in the Deep South.
