Well, it seems the "Delta Smelt" issue is more complicated than talking head spin. Not trying to be insensitive, but this article seems to suggest there is a tug-of-war (pardon the metaphor) between the enviros and the un-documenteds.... reason.com/blog/2011/01/12/reasontvP.S. The charge contained in the title of this thread, and the shameless political damagogues who offered it, have been served their din-din. SMOKED CROW. and this has what to do with water quality in the Sacramento River Delta and the tributaries that feed it regarding sustainability / viability of fisheries (salmon, steel head, striped bass) and forage fish (smelt)? I can see how it would come across that way, but no I wasn't not saying that specifically, more as to their general spin/vitriol/demagoguery - and very little substantiating/useful/thoughtful debate. Franken actually was capable of that, which is how he got elected (and why Rhodes and Malloy never would be able to). |

Campaign? That is a military term. You are equating an election try to a planned military endeavor. Military endeavors aim to kill those that oppose them. Little story for those of you here. I work in local politics (have managed and worked on several campaigns in SD county that you have all probably voted on.) and when I was working on my first campaign for a Republican candidate several years ago I was helping walk precincts and talking to voters in Spring Valley when a man came up to me on the street holding a bow saw. He approached me and asked what I was doing so I talked to him for a little while but then when he looked at the information I had he grabbed me by the neck and pressed the saw blade into my throat. He asked me "YOU AIN'T A FUCKIN REPUBLICAN IS YOU?" I lied and told him I was an independant... he let go slapped me on the shoulder and said that I was cool in his book...

I can tell you a couple stories as well. Cars getting keyed and egged for having political signs on the bumpers. That was in King County Washington. I don't have any way to measure it or have more to go on than my opinion, but I think much more of this goes on targeting Conservatives than liberals. I am sure it goes both ways however. |
