Just to make the World a little smaller. Right wingers on here are allowed to post images of a dog taking a shi* and equate that to the POTUS.... not the dog..but the end result. Ha Ha.... very funny. Sure the guys on here can take it with a grain of salt... but think about the unstable and angry nut cases out there.... how much of that imagery getting pounded into them every day would it take to send a couple over the edge. How bout the moderators cooling off that stuff, in spite of their leanings. Good thing Thomas Nast is no longer alive, and especially not posting on here. The screeching to have him banned would be deafening. But , hey, gotta agree about the overheated rhetoric... even if any sane person would know it is only metaphorical. Might send nut-jobs over the edge... especially all that rhetoric coming from those evil right-wingers... ...oh, wait... "I think it's tempting not to negotiate with hostage takers, unless the hostage gets harmed. In this case the hostage is the American people and I was not willing to see them get harmed," Obama on keeping taxes from increasing, December 6, 2010
"A Republican majority in Congress would mean "hand-to-hand combat" on Capitol Hill for the next two years, threatening policies Democrats have enacted to stabilize the economy," Obama, October 6, 2010
“If they bring a knife to the fight, we bring a gun,” Obama in July 2008
"Here's the problem: It's almost like they've got -- they've got a bomb strapped to them and they've got their hand on the trigger. You don't want them to blow up. But you've got to kind of talk them, ease that finger off the trigger." Obama on banks, March 2009
"I want you to argue with them and get in their face!" Barack Obama, September 2008
“We’re gonna punish our enemies and we’re gonna reward our friends who stand with us on issues that are important to us.” Obama to Latinos, October 2010
“I don’t want to quell anger. I think people are right to be angry! I’m angry!” Obama on ACORN Mobs, March 2010
“We talk to these folks… so I know whose ass to kick.“ Obama on the private sector, June 2010

Jack Shafer is a libertarian. Not exactly a "left winger".

Dallas Green's (Manager World Champion Phillies, 1980 World Series Champion) lost his 9 year old grand daughter yesterday in this shooting spree. Assult rifle used in the murder was banned by Clinton and the ban was liften under Bush. A 10 year old son shot his mother in the head after he was told to do a chore and he did not want to. Child had problems in school yet his father let him have loaded hunting guns in his bedroom. Why can't there be a honest conversation on some gun regulation? You have to have a DL at age 16 to drive a car. You can't drive a Indy car or a tank on the fwy. Some control would be a good thing. I think it is OK to own guns but regulation is needed. I bet the NRA will be in Arizona this week defending the rights for a mentally challenged individual to buy an assult rifle. www.forbes.com/feeds/ap/2011/01/09/general-us-congresswoman-shot-phillies_8247250.html?boxes=Homepagebusinessnewswww.youtube.com/watch?v=2HjEs9G4ZLI

You and your irrational rhetoric are exactly what causes these kind of tragic incidents to become political and even inspire further violence.

Olbermann simply retains the exclusive right to vilify certain conservatives with no apology for words against them in the past but wants his political opponents to be "dismissed" for their past rhetoric. The fact that both the political rhetoric from the conservatives he hates and the rhetoric from him have absolutely nothing to do with the tragedy is the reality that the left refuses to acknowledge (lest they be known as bigger buffoons than they already are)and is lost on the glassy eyed faithful of the left. Olbermann and those that think he is speaking for them are both the smallest and lowest of political opportunists as they wrongly associate a heinous crime to their opponents without cause. Calling them clueless clowns would be too nice.

Many people, including both Republican and Democratic political campaigns, have used the "target imagery." Anyone who jumps to the conclusion that nut-cases like the pathetic young man in Tucson was motivated by anything other than his own mental illness is mistaken.

So where is the suggestion to eliminate all gun violence from TV and movies? That is much more pervasive and psychologically intense than one page on some obscure web site.
Do they really want to be that sort of ninny or authoritarian sensor? Or are some just being demagogues and exploiters of tragedy for political gain? Clearly the latter.

althouse.blogspot.com/2011/01/what-is-government-if-words-have-no.htmlThe guy started to have it in for Giffords before we even heard of Palin. The left is obsessed and jealous of conservative, attractive and politically compelling women out of a fear of losing political power to them via their connection to female and independent voters. This painting of an entirely innocent Palin as some sort of villain in this tragedy is just another example of their willingness to stoop to any level to harm her politically. And wait until Marco Rubio becomes old enough to be eligible to run for President. If you think Conservative women get the "business" from the left, wait till this particular conservative member of a minority is a potential threat. He will be named the devil incarnate.

Oh please.
Personally, I think that right wing vitriolic attacks against everyone and everything that they don't find acceptable is damaging to this country. Discourse becomes impossible when communication is replaced by shouting down. And I believe that Faux News, their commentators and their ilk, have done more to undermine respect for the institutions in this country than all the worlds communists have done put together. For that reason, I believe that Faux is guilty of what I call "soft core treason" -- all the while claiming to be paragons of patriotism.
But...
This guy is a nut case and I have not seen anything whatsoever that leads me to believe that his actions are a result of a lack of civility on the right. And the desperate counterclaims of the rightists that attempt to lay this at the liberals feet are even more absurd than the claims of those on the left.
Sometimes a nut case is just a nut case.
Yoda out...
