This sends a message to the players that they must perform at the D-1 level or else.
Tony and the Coach who came over from USD better have some good pitchers in the recruiting pipeline.

Maybe they need to be taught how to perform at DI level. Wouldn't that be an idea? Also, seeing as the coaching staff brought them in, to just drop them all after one year seems strange. But, I guess it will allow the apologists to point out how young the team is again next year.

We have 16 new pitchers coming in for next year. I'm glad Tony is stepping up and making these guys perform or telling them to hit the road. A couple good position players coming in as well.

I have a feeling Eric wants to bring in his own guys. With his track record in recruiting, I think that's a good thing.

Put it this way, Tony never had the radar gun out for any of our pitchers as they didnt throw fast enough to warrant the gun. its a good thing they have 16 coming in as we need all the pitching we can get to make it thru the Mwc tourney next year which we will win!!!!! only 3 pitchers have scholies left form this year. Things will be different next year!!!! cv out

How many pitchers are not having scholies renewed? Are all these Filter's pitchers? I've gone on record saying I was never a big fan of his all through the Dietz years. Along comes Strasburg and suddenly the guy gets a job with Stanford...or was it Cal...where ever. That being said, Tony was still the one that extends these prep players scholies. Hopefully they're getting it right. I'm glad he's being accountable, but I feel bad for those kids leaving, if they are leaving. I'm sure there's a few that feel they've been burnt.

OK. So I went to their roster page and counted 16 pitchers. 13 are not being renewed?!!! I've been a fan of Tony's, but come on. How can you miss on 13 pitchers? 7 of them are local kids. That can't sit well with other local potential recruits and the programs they're coming from. goaztecs.cstv.com/sports/m-basebl/mtt/sdsu-m-basebl-mtt.html

I agree! You cannot afford to miss on that many pitchers. I trust Coach Valenzuela will get this back in order. Hopefully, will mix in some stud JC pitchers.

Most stud juco's go there to not really worry about school and to be eligible quicker for the MLB draft

We may have a better idea of whether USD's success came from Rich Hill or Valenzuela.

We may have a better idea of whether USD's success came from Rich Hill or Valenzuela. I'll venture to guess it's the guy who is the head of the program that's made the Tournament for about 6 of the last 7 years. He's surely done something right .....just a guess, though....
