Valley Center routes Escondido. Story is in the link. What it does not say is that they had a running clock in the fourth quarter. xrl.us/bh364aThe kicker hit one from 51 and hits from 60 in practice. Bernards last TD was a highlite. He just makes people miss. Three VC players left last night after the game and will be making an unofficial visit to BYU at todays SDSU game. Which 3 players?

Reden who has committed to BYU, Reilly the QB and Bernard.

There is so much talent in the Escondido high school district. This new coach for EHS needs to be encouraged to teach girls volleyball or something else. Obviously he is doing something wrong.

Another big win for Valley Center. They played the second half with a running clock. VC RB Travis Bernard took the first play for VC in for a TD against the John Robinson coached San Marcos defense. He played less than a half and had about 190 yards.
I have to think that Valley Center might jump up the rankings a place or two when people realize that the Jags pushed around two teams that top ranked Vista had trouble with. This weeks Vista game with Escondido was a eyebrow raising event. Comparative scores mean nothing and I do not suggest the VC is better than or would beat Vista, but might make an interesting game.

Once again Valley Center rolled over a pretty athletic team from Mount Carmel. The QB is improving ever week and is now pretty good. Helps the running game when you can pass. Travis Bernard chocked up another 330 yards on 26 carries. He must lead the county in rushing by 250 or 300 yards by now. The kicker, David Last had another solid game both kicking and playing WR and DB. LB/DE Kenny Thomas is a man among boys. Someone is going to get a fine football player. I would think the VC Jags would move up the county rankings a place of two when the other top ranked teams struggle. Still, being #5 as a DIV 4 School is a pretty good accomplishment. Two more winnable games before CIF playoffs. I hope for no stumbles.

No. 4 Valley Center had no real trouble with an out-manned Del Norte last night. Del Norte has no Seniors yet so has a struggle with established programs. The final was no indication of the total dominance by VC after the first series or two. I did see a couple things that disturbed me. Del Norte is a new school with great facilities and it looks like a good local following tat can only grow. My first problem was with some thuggery that was present in both the Del Norte Freshmen team and in their Varsity. They appeared to go after and try to injure VC players with cheap shots that have nothing to do with football. Going after kids knees and legs is not how the game is played by VC. The game got a little testy after a couple cheap shots on the VC running back and the subsequent celebrations by Del Norte players when the kid hobbled off the field. I have my opinion where that comes from, but will just say it does not start with the nice folks in that new community nor their children. My other problem was with extremely poor officiating in all three games this weekend between VC and Del Norte. That is also not Del Norte's fault, but it could have changed the outcome of the Freshman game. It did not. The JV and Varsity games were really not in question. The JV game was closer in score, but still VC dominated after the half. The Varsity game score might have been about the same with good officials, but the second half may have been played with VC backups and given Del Norte a chance to get some valuable experience. Officials losing control of the game to a certain extent and the thuggery allowed by Del Norte coaches made the game ugly to watch. I hope that gets addressed in the future because it would be a shame to have another good new school get that kind of repetition and have it not addressed at the school.
Still a good night for the County's best rusher and a game by game improvement at the QB position.

Aztecwin, you guys are going to kill my Patriots this week. My guess is you guys will beat OG from any where between 28-35 points.

OG is getting better this year from what I can see. They were pretty bad for a while and it takes a while to rebuild a program. VC wants to go undefeated during the regular season and could get trapped. It is At home and it is Senior Night so the kids want to do well. The section rushing recod is in view if Bernard does not stumble or let late season bumps and bruises slow him down.

All I can say is I was very disappointed by what I saw and what I was told. Heartbreaking loss too. OG should have won the game going away. Way to many mistakes and bad play calling!

I told you aztecwin, you guys were going to kill my Patriots. Last I saw it was 70-0. WTF happened to my Patriots? That must have been one ugly game to watch. Did OG just not show up?

OG seemed to give up. Shame for my favorite RB. He got his 198 yards but in less the two quarters. They had a running clock as a mercy measure all but a minute or two of the second half. I also have now heard some things that might be disturbing if you are wanting OG to get better. Of the three games, the Frosh were closest to being competetive. The JV and Varsity for OG just flat rolled over and gave up. Sad.

Rather easy win last night for Valley Center. They played dominating defense and had the answers for what seemed like a high risk cover zero defense to try to get an extra body "in the box" to stop the run. Bernard still got about 280 yards.

Anybody after Bernard? I know he's small, but numbers don't lie.

There may be more.

Valley Center lost in the finals at Qualcomm to a real fine Madison team. They found the weak spot in the pass defense caused by injury to a good corner. It was a fine effort by a good team. Congratulations to Madison!
