Gonzaga’s elite talented big men were too much for all of SDSU’s front court players. Heide will have his moments vs. less talented post players.

Compton needs to grow up fast, because Heide is awful and DeMarshay is very limited in what he can do. Same with Gwath.
Lots of teachable moments with the bigs. Dutch needs to spend more time with them on setting screens, and frankly JCJ should know how to do that - he's a senior.
And when there is a 1 5 switch with Nemhard and Ike, the 3 or 4 needs to come over and help the point guard on Ike. That's just pick and roll 101. Taj bailed BJ out once, but all too many times BJ was stuck on Ike and couldn't do anything.
The help defense was really bad on the pick and rolls.

Some of you are expecting perfection from a group that was never going to provide it at this point in the season. Learn to enjoy the growth of young players over a course of the season, something we don’t get the opportunity to do with this program very often. Gonzaga are bona fide contenders with grown men. SDSU battled, got good experience and has a week to heal and learn. We’ll see the zags again soon.

Aztecs have some talent, BUT they need to shoot better. Way too many open misses. Easy win for Gonzaga. Really? Wow!

Boyd is a straight baller. 6/10 from the field and 9 rebounds Best PG in the mesa since malachi. And only two turnovers. Great FT shooter, 9-10, just like Reese. FT'S will matter at the end of close games.

Davis and Boyd were good and are keys to the season. This team will do nothing until Byrd and Waters get back at 100%. Compton is by far a better option than Heide. Dutcher needs to figure out how to get Taj and Jones more involved. Gwath will be back next year.

Goon and heidi are not good, goon needs a softer touch and heidi is just a rebounder. We need to go to a 4 guard offense

Gonzaga’s elite talented big men were too much for all of SDSU’s front court players. Heide will have his moments vs. less talented post players. Not if he doesn't get some instant confidence. That next to last play before he left for the bench for the night, the one where he was all by himself at the basket - but wheeled around and flubbed a pass off was just a low point. You get a break in that situation, drive it into the basket. Don't stand around waiting for helpers. And that was just one of several really head scratching plays and sequences he was involved in tonight. Really looked just lost out there, but he always has looked like that. Whatever improvement he's made since the end of last season must be somewhere we can't see it right now - or he simply hasn't made any.

Heide looked like he has been hanging out at Mission Beach picking up on girls. No growth over the summer.
BJ Davis looks like he spent 2 or 3 times a day at the gym. From what I saw at the end of the year till now, I'm like wow. We reward kids for their work not what social media does or spectacular dunks.

Total spaz. Cost us 4 points and the lead could've been down to 6 - touching the ball in the rim then fumbles away a great pass for what would've been a easy dunk or layup He reminds me of Greg Ostertag. Small hands. He got stripped a lot.

I figured the game was going to go like it did. Gonzaga is really good, and we are just trying to find ourselves with all the new folks. This team, although talented, needs a lot more games to get their team rythym. And it will happen. Just my opinion.

Would be nice if they can give less $$$ to the FB team and more to the BB team since the return on the investment is far better with BB. The Basketball squad has a separate and well funded NIL collective. The main reason FB sucks is their NIL is horrendous.

Whatever improvement he's made since the end of last season must be somewhere we can't see it right now - or he simply hasn't made any. B.MILLER SDUT did a write up on Heide two days ago: “It’s been a big thing for me to constantly get shots up and try to expand the court,” Heide said. “I’m shooting in practice with confidence.” There’s that word. Confidence. That might be the single biggest factor in unlocking Heide’s game at the college level. Coleman-Jones, Gwath and Compton are averaging more minutes early, but he has done things that were noticed. Heide finished with five rebounds during an exhibition against Cal State San Marcos and piled up eight boards, six on the offensive end, in Tuesday’s win over Occidental. Add in the moment against UCLA and there are breadcrumbs. Heide also has learned from the Aztecs who played before him, with the bruises to show for it. He faced LeDee in practice, picking up lessons on each collision with the Karl Malone Award winner as the nation’s top power forward.

The sky isn't falling, obviously. They did not get blown out by Zags, and if the game was played when it was supposed to be played between semesters, the result might be different - at least it would be much closer. There's daylight ahead. As mentioned, Zags are a top 5 team, and they'll be playing in the 2nd weekend of March Madness - maybe even all the way. They aren't overpowering, but they're consistent. Aztecs had them basket for basket for most of the 2nd half - they just could never close the gap they created in the first half by shooting blanks at their basket for too many possessions. And the TOs were not helpful, either.
