The Monty Show? Nah. They don't know crap. His sources are good. His opinions however........ His sources said 8-10 mil. ESPN and Fox are "on board" with Sac State. (Probably the TV market more than the program). I find it interesting that Sac State wants to jump over the MW. It takes time for FCS squads to adapt to and compete in the FBS. I don't wanna hear about CUSA squads. That's an FCS Conference with an FBS label.

Texas State would be good for recruiting. Last yead 276 young men from High schools and Junior Colleges signed letters of intent within a four to five hour drive from Texas State. California had a total of 227 and Texas total was 355. As a side note that surprised me was Alabama/Georgia 364 combined.

The only people talking about SacSt are the people at SacSt. The PAC already has Fresno so reason to get any other California school that isn't Calford and adding them would compete with Fresno in that market. Also, SacST is FCS so doesn't help the PAC's need for a full member by 2026. Oh, FOX doesn't seem to be part of the PAC discussion but they are still looking to get the MWC cheap.

In the Austin/San Antonio DMA but has much better facilities that UTSA. A 40K enrollment. They would come to the PAC more cheaply, their buyout may be no more than $5M which they would have to cover. They would need to come in, initially, at a partial share which would get to a full share when they meet certain criteria. It wouldn't hurt the PAC in getting Memphis or Tulane since it helps them with travel. But, a lot of things can happen in the next few months. Given the MWC asked for an extension in the PAC's lawsuit for the "poaching penalty" perhaps we will see what the MWC can get from the PAC and departing members. If it is closer to the $65M range, UNLV might be more willing to pay the money they need in order to join the MWC.

I've been doing a little research on Texas St and I'd be totally fine adding them. The school is growing like crazy (40K+ enrollment), is in the center of Texas (smack dab in between Austin and SA), and although they're R2, they offer bachelors, masters and doctorates. If you were to make a blind analysis and compared Texas State and BSU… looking at everything except football history… you would choose Texas State all day And, I think they would accept, even if they come in at a partial share and cover their exit penalty. If they jump to the PAC, they will surpass UTSA given TexSt has better facilities and will be in a better conference. Don't think the PAC would have to add another school to give them a partner initially so the conference retains flexibility. The PAC could have done worse. They could have added UTEP and GCU.

Is there any possibility of getting UTSA AND Texas State?

Well considering the Pac just hired Octagon only a few weeks ago, I don't see how any offer from ESPN or Fox could be on the table just yet. They're good, but not THAT good...

My sources said there has been no offer from anyone… the team is focused on understanding what each network offers, what they are Looking for and how important the new PAC 7 is to the networks…

Is there any possibility of getting UTSA AND Texas State? I would be all about this if they weren't so close together. The Austin/San Antonio MSA is growing like crazy and would be a good market to be in. Not sure we need to be there twice though. Getting one and then waiting makes all the sense in the world.

Is there any possibility of getting UTSA AND Texas State? They would both accept in a second… Aside from athletic side, I was curious about the academic profiles. UNT is normally not included in the discussion but I thought I'd include them. University of North Texas: located in Denton (Dallas-Forth Worth Metro) Enrollment: 47,000 (3rd largest public university in Texas) Endowment: $340.8M In 2016, Carnegie elevated North Texas to its top category – Doctorate-Granting Institutions with "highest research activity.” Academic RankingsForbes: 275 USN&WR: 220 (tie) Texas State University – San Marcos:Enrollment: 40,000+ Endowment: $410M Academic RankingsForbes: 298 USN&WR: 280 (tie) UT San Antonio:Enrollment: 34,000+ Endowment: $1.1B (UTSA and UT Health San Antonio are merging to form a new university with an endowment of $1.1 billion) Classified among R1: Doctoral Universities – Very High Research Activity Academic RankingsForbes: 272 USN&WR: 231 (tie)

UT San Antonio seems like the best choice, based on above.

but UTSA is in the AAC and thus has the big buyout, which Texas St does not.
But yes, UTSA would have been my first choice and I've in fact been clamoring for the MWC to take them for several years.

thought the buy out for AAC was about 27.5 million
Major reason to add school or schools from Texas are recruiting and will some of their businesses buy adds for the Media deal
would need to have decent travel routes/airports to get there for the other PAC schools -
not sure about do they have some of the other minor sports that would help the conference if it is trying to keep as many of the minor sports in the PAC ?
how do they rate for TV Viewers for football - realize most Texans watch Texas and other schools in the SEC and maybe Big 12 - so do they have TV followers that the Networks want

Texas State isn't an easy trip: you fly into Austin and then drive South an hour or fly into San Antonio and drive North an hour and a half. Although you're not dealing with bad winters or elevation so there's that.
