What's even more insane is giving another back the ball, him gaining 38 yards on that carry and then him never getting the ball again. The offense moved down the field with a back up QB and a missing OLineman who went down earlier on that drive helped by Davis' big run Then you promptly bench him to run Cooper-Lewis into a brick wall for 78 yards the entire game. I'd get my press pass revoked by Lewis by asking him, "Was that too much success by Davis? Was benching him after that long run sending the team as message that successful offense is NOT Aztec Fast? Or did Davis find a permanent spot on the bench because he outshined your son you never had on his single carry?" I honestly think the Cooper usage is a long-term transfer ploy. Cooper is a good, not great running back who is really good at holding onto the football. But at the end of the year, he's going to have over 1000 yards rushing and we can offer rushing stats to some solid transfer in lieu of NIL money. To be honest, that makes sense to me. We're trying to compete on a budget and you have to offer something. Individual stats are probably the next best thing to money that you can offer folks. A distant second, sure, but an incentive nonetheless. Interesting take on Cooper's use. I had not looked at it that way, but you make a good point.
