That was a weird game. Completely out of sync the entire first half and what we hoped we'd see in the second half. Not surprising for a first game with a true frosh QB and a new system. Curious to see how we look against a giant step up in opponent next week. Gotta clean up the dumb penalties first and foremost.

Maybe we make svp bad beats segment if we get the improbable backdoor coverIt is amazing that Las Vegas can be so close with their calls. At halftime any cover was a joke. Beyond that, it's hard to draw too many conclusions from tonight's game. Especially the first half, when TAMC was on their game and SDSU was clear not. It feels like a combination of things - on both teams - led to the second half Aztecs turnaround. Will be interesting to see how they do against a competitive opponent next week - TAMC gave all they could - and all the AZZZZZZZtecs could handle for one half tonight. If a team - and OSU is definitely that team - plays 60 minutes of hard football with the depth, speed, and skill that comes from solid players … we'll see what happens next week. That will be the first real test of Azzzzzzztec Fast

This team better improve a ton over the next 3 quarters (and next 6 days) or we're going to get killed next week. We definitely improved a ton in the 2nd half. Biggest turnaround I've seen in a long time. We still have some stuff to clean up, but we're clearly on the right track. Next week could be a bad loss, but who knows? We could also pull off the upset. We've done it before!

Apparently we're going to score 36 more points and shut them out in the second half. Seriously, are you Nostradamus?

New staff and players were clearly jumpy the first half but settled down the second half and played some good ball. I still have some concerns in the trenches and cornerbacks, plus a lot of arm tackling like last year, but we should improve quite a bit over the next week. We might struggle vs the Beavers but I think we have a chance at being a good team overall.

When was the last time the Aztecs scored 42 points in one half? Heck when's the last time we scored 42 points in a GAME?

Watching from home... The video quality by TNT Sports is really nice. They drone shots in particular were super. If they covered next week's Oregon State game, they'd probably get even better shots. Good pub. My only suggestion to the would-be TV producers out there is that it'd be fun to get a shot of the concourse areas where the "easter eggs" are and views from, e.g., the bars -- so some sort of roving camera guy. May not have the budget for that quite yet. Maybe for the Holiday Bowl or something. The announcers... so-so. I certainly could not do better if I was in the booth, but not exactly Keith Jackson, either. Keith Jackson will always be the voice of college football to me. Big time. Even the way he said his name was exciting. He accentuated it. "Hello everybody." "This is Keith Jackson."

It was bad early last season and never improved. It felt like we missed more tackles last season than we made. No guarantee this will improve - but let's hope this staff and players are better at continuous improvement than Hoke was.

Yeah, didn't need any friggen pregame BS back then. You heard his voice and you knew it was an important game. Kinda like MNF with Howard Cosell.

I'm not sure what to think after that game. I'm just glad the offense finally figured out that if they don't get penalties they can move the football and the defense figured out how to stop getting run over by a bad FCS squad in the second half.
Also, did we get a new kicker since the back-up finished the game?

We might struggle vs the Beavers but I think we have a chance at being a good team overall. A ton of missed assignments on the offensive front including the TEs. To the point they whiffed on run blocks. Especially in the first half. That happened on almost every rushing play. That greatly improved in the second half. The procedure penalties seemed to die down in the second half. Brown learned how to catch a football after his first two targets were dropped and O'Neil got better with his accuracy once he settled in. This team has to quit playing stupid. Phillips with a great hit immediately messed it up by taunting the guy. Louis shoving the QB long after he released a pass that was intercepted. That's stupid football

He's turned many 2-3 yard losses into 1-2 yard gains. He's nearly impossible to bring down on their first hit with one guy.

I think the first half would've looked a little different if Brown caught that easy TD dime that O'Neil threw. I really like the ball that O'Neil throws. I think he's going to be a really good QB for us. Best looking QB we've had in a VERY long time, IMO. I like the throwing motion and the way the ball looks in the air.
Not sure if it'll materialize this year since he's just a true freshman but I really like his future. He's got some wheels too
