Xander started off yesterday with a -4 under 66, 2 shots out of the lead. He's paired with Scheffler who also shot -4.
Xander's -2 today after 6 holes.
Fun fact: Xander has had 19 bogey-free rounds this season, which leads the PGA. That's 5 more than second place.
For the season, he's had the 2nd lowest bogey % in 37 years.
Seems like all the announcers at every tournament now fall all over themselves trying to describe how great of a golfer Xander suddenly is. It's amazing what winning a couple Majors can do for your credibility.

Man, the heat in Memphis is brutal. They say the temp was 98F, but was 108F on the course yesterday. Using the same formula that means it's 102F on the course today. That hear has to be taking its toll for those not used to playing in hot weather.

-2 through 17 holes and he is in the fairway bunker on 18. He had a double boogie today. His driver is getting him into trouble.

I think he has too many swing problems in this round of the three tournaments. If it's just the drives off the tees or just the approach shots, it could be corrected. However, it was both today. My guess is if he hits it straight off the tees tomorrow then his approach shots should be on target for Sunday. IOW, one correction at a time. I heard his swng coach is there. |

He played horribly (for him) and is still at -5 after two rounds, tied for 13th(6 shots back). I'm guessing he goes low tomorrow and is in the hunt on Sunday.

At least he crept 440 points closer to Scheffler but he's still a little over 1500 points behind him. He'll have to be satisfied with $1,760,000 for a tie for 2nd.

The upcoming 2nd tournament round is taking place in Colorado. Imagine, at that elevation the big hitters will probably be hitting wedges for their 2nd shots. Crazy. |

Xander had said something a few months ago alluding that all the players were chasing Scheffler's game at the time. |

To do that Xander would have to win the Tournament and Scheffler would have to finish 5th or worse. It's actually Ok because the whole Fed Ex points for the season thing is pretty much a non-event for the guys near the top. Even if Scheffler were to win this week and go to Eastlake ahead of Xander at #2 by 3000 points, Scheffler would only get to start with a 2-shot advantage over Xander in the Final weekend. The process makes for good TV but really screws the guy leading. It's not a real reflection on a yearlong payoff for someone who played great for the entire season. |
